Feeling beaten up

I swear...every friday, by the time  I get home, I feel like I've been pummelled all week.  sheesh.  But tomorrow...sleep, glorious sleep!

Today I FINALLY  got my raise.  Eight percent.  Not bad for us.  In fact, quite good.  There have been several 2 and 3 percent years.  Of course, I would expect a decent increase to go with my increased responsibilities.   This increases the gap between my husband and me.  And I don't know how I feel about that.  HE seems fine with it, which is good....the last thing I want is some silly ego crap over salaries when it all goes in the same pot anyway....my raise is his raise.  But I do feel...I don't know....pressure?  Like I CAN'T quit or change jobs, because I'm the "main" breadwinner.  And part of me is totally unenlightened and wants him to make more so I feel "taken care of".  But really...the big concern for me is that it traps me here even more.  I don't make much compared with "real' occupations, but for my field...I make DAMN good money.  AND I live in a place where the cost of living is ridiculously low.  Though I did just do some checking at bankrate.com, and there are some places that are comparable.  The big thing here is housing.  For a quarter of a million here, you can get a HUGE house with a lot of land.  For half a mill?  A castle with a moat.  Here is the most expensive house in my zip code.  I'm pretty sure this is where Batman lived.....

ANYwhoodle......yay for me.  Perhaps we can pay off some of our debt a little faster.

My sister and I were emailing about xmas dinner.  We're both going down to visit my parents in FL...this will be the first time in several years we've done the whole family thing.  So she and I are planning an all Barefoot Contessa dinner.  The whole family will be in a butter coma.  Thus far, all we've chosen is a shrimp cocktail appetizer (a family tradition) and filet of beef.  This will be so fun!  We both love to cook.

No plans for the weekend.  Staying warm, I think!
