I love having cats. They not only give me practically unconditional love (cats easily forget and sometimes don't forgive), they are royally entertaining. This morning, my two little fur kids were running all over the house making the most grotesque growling sounds at each other. Then, suddenly, all was quiet. I went downstairs to get my coffee and one cat was sitting by the front door taking a breather and the other one was catty corner from him taking her own breather but crouched down just in case he came running. It struck me funny because it seemed almost like they had gone to their respective corners for a break between rounds. I got my coffee and came upstairs...and low and behold...there they go again! I don't know if hearing me on the stairs prompted their mutually understood "break," or if I just had good timing. I do know, however, that they always seem to play like that outside of my range of view. Go figure.
The other little thing that struck me this morning is the oddity of non-dairy creamer. I have stopped buying half and half for my coffee and am buying the liquid non-dairy stuff so that I have something to put in my coffee after I've had a meat meal. Now, the first thing there is that I'm not sure why I even bothered. The only time I drink coffee at home really is in the morning and I never eat meat in the morning. So, ultimately, what was the point? Anyway, as I put the non-dairy crapola in my coffee, I noticed that it pretty much sinks to the bottom of the cup. That kind of scares me. I mean, the half and half always mixes itself nicely in the cup without having to be stirred. This stuff just kind of sank barely swirled. I don't know why that struck me today, but it did. Perhaps it was to point out that there's no reason I can't use half and half! (now, if I really cared about my fat intake, I wouldn't use any cream at all).
I have to work today. I pretty much loathe working on Saturday. Sometimes, though, with my job, you can't really help it. The little blessing in disguise here is that I remembered to request HVAC. Without it, its impossible to work in my office. It becomes a sauna even in 75 degree weather. The thing is, the building's HVAC system is just old enough that you have to know ahead of time when you want heat or AC. So, I have to tell the office management people and then they request HVAC with building management for a certain period of the day. Funny thing is, having to do it that way always gets me to go into the office. We pay for AC on the weekends, so if I've specifically requested it from 9 to 3 or whatever, I'd certainly better have my butt in the chair from 9-3...and if I have my butt in the chair, I might as well work.
Finally, I still have to get Dan and Sarah a wedding gift. Not only that, I need something to wear to the wedding. I'm not sure when I'm going to buy those things since I have practically no time this weekend. I suppose I could perhaps do it this evening if the stores are open. What does one get her brother for a wedding gift anyway? I want it to be special, but I don't want to get them something they won't want (I know, I know...use the registry...). Either way, seven days from today my brother will have a wife! So weird...
