book (re)casting challenge @
fandomverse.
I picked one of my favorite series that is just dark, brutal, real, and full of this claustrophobic tension that builds with each book (being about a zombie apocalypse didn't hurt). The first book in the series,
Autumn was made into a movie but I really didn't agree with the casting choices so I moved to book two which brings forth many more characters (the first book focused on three people, not enough for this challenge). Best thing is my favorite characters from book one (Michael & Emma) are in book two so I still got to cast them properly.
A disease of unimaginable ferocity has torn across the face of the planet leaving billions dead. A small group of survivors shelter in the remains of a devastated city, hiding in terror as the full effects of the horrific infection start to become clear. The sudden appearance of a company of soldiers again threatens the survivors’ fragile existence. Do they bring with them hope, help and answers, or more pain, fear and suffering?
Michael Collins ; played by Patrick Flueger
"From places as remote as assembly halls, gymnasiums, workshops, kitchens and offices, the cold morning air was filled with the terrified screams of hundreds of desperate children and adults, all of them suffocating and choking to death.
By the time I'd reached the end of the corridor it was over. The school was silent."
Emma Mitchell ; played by Kate Mara
"I didn't allow myself to think about what had happened. I guess I knew that I wouldn't be able to find any answers. I didn't want to know what had killed the rest of the world around me and I didn't want to know why I was the only one left."
Cooper ; played by Michael Trucco
"The not-knowing made me question my priorities. I had joined the forces to protect people and yet there we were, tucked up safely underground while the rest of the population - and everyone that had ever meant anything to me - endured whatever it was that was happening to the world. Good or bad (and we all knew in our hearts that what was happening was a million times worse than just bad) we all needed some answers.
I might even have deserted if I'd been able to get outside."
Dr. Phil Croft; played by Luke Mably
"Why did everyone assume that just because he was a doctor he'd somehow be able to find a reason and explanation for their impossible situation? Christ, no-one had ever come across anything like the virus or disease or whatever it was that had killed so many people in such a short period of time."
Donna Yorke ; played by Katie Cassidy
"The same bizarre and illogical thing was happening again and again down at street level. Most bodies remained motionless on the ground but many others were moving. Without reason, explanation or any real degree of control, cadavers which had laid motionless for almost two days were now beginning to move."
Clare Smith ; played by Elle Fanning
"I got out of the car to try and get some help for Dad. I didn't even stop to think about what had happened to him. And when I got out I couldn't believe what I saw. Everything had stopped.
We were stuck in the middle of the biggest crash you've ever seen."
Jack Baxter ; played by Simon Baker
"He knew he'd have to go outside eventually, but for now the familiarity and relative security of his home was all he had left. Even now he could occasionally hear the body of his next-door neighbor crashing aimlessly and relentlessly around the back garden."
