Okajima-thon.
One
Everything was new to him; the environment, the language, the culture. He hadn’t even had the chance to adjust to life in Japan yet, when his father told him that he was going to join an entertainment company.
Keito wasn’t too excited about the idea. Sure, many people would kill for his spot but he’d rather cozy up in a corner alone reading a book rather than having to stand in front of millions of people. He wasn’t even good at singing and dancing!
Of course, he didn’t have any choice but to follow his father’s orders. His application was sent in and being the son of Okamoto Kenichi, he was immediately put in a group that was just about to debut.
Keito thought it’d be easy. He’d learn the dance steps and train his voice but after experiencing his first day, he realised that it wasn’t a walk on the park. To add to his difficulties, he was also being bullied around by his seniors and group-mates.
He had thought of giving up, but he didn’t want to disappoint his father, so he worked harder: at sharpening his talents and making friends.
However, nobody liked him. When he tried to talk to the other people, they’d walk away from him or curse in his face. Keito endured it all. Well, at least he thought he could endure it all until a group-mate of his, Yuto, who appeared friendly, shattered his heart by saying:
“You don’t belong here. Go back to where you came from. Can’t you see? We all hate you. We really hate you. And do you know who despises you the most? Me.”
That night, Keito came home to his father crying, but Kenichi never found out the reason behind his son’s tears.
Two
Months into the agency, Keito was still friendless. It was lunch break and everyone was busy chatting away and eating their bento’s with each other whilst Keito had to go to the bathroom to eat his. Alone.
With a sigh, he opened his container of food and salivated at the sight of delicious, home-made cuisine that his mother had prepared for him and for a moment, he forgot about all his troubles. Keito wasted no time anymore as he heard his stomach grumble. After muttering a soft ‘itadakimasu’ he picked up his chopsticks and was about to munch on his food when his bento was pushed to the ground.
His face expressed shock and when he looked up, he saw Yuto’s smirking face, along with his two friends beside him.
“Eating in the bathroom I see. What a dirty, dirty boy. You might as well drink from the toilet bowl.” Yuto gave the bento a kick and it went sliding across the floor. Satisfied, he left with a loud, booming laugh.
Tear drops rolled down Keito’s cheeks slowly as he picked up his bento and the food his mother had worked hard to make off of the floor.
Three
Over the course of two years, Keito’s talents finally showed itself and he also became more attractive. Fans had finally opened their hearts to accept him as a member of Hey! Say! JUMP. His seniors and colleagues were beginning to acknowledge him as well, after seeing him perform so well on stage.
He was truly happy but all of those didn’t really matter to him. What mattered to him the most were Yuto’s opinions. The taller boy had thrown venomous words at him, kicked him, punched him, bullied him to no end but that all helped him get to where he was now.
Keito fidgeted as he stood in front of Yuto. The boy was younger than him but Keito had always been intimidated by his presence.
“So, what do you think?”
Yuto scrutinised him up and down, rubbing his chin as if in thought. When his eyes met Keito’s, they were dead serious and it caused panic to rise inside of the older boy. It didn’t last long though, because the thin line of Yuto’s lips turned up into a smile and it crinkled his eyes in an enticing way.
“You’re cool. I gotta admit, you showed us what real talent is all about. I’m sorry for the way I treated you before. Really, you didn’t deserve it.” Yuto no longer smiled, and looked down in guilt.
“Silly,” Keito sniffled. He was already crying due to the overwhelming feelings of Yuto approving him. “If it wasn’t for you, if you didn’t treat me that way, I wouldn’t be in this position. So it’s all thanks to you. Thank you, Yuto.” And he proceeded to hug the younger boy, who was already in tears as well.

After being accepted and everyone finally liking him, Keito thought he wouldn’t experience anymore heartbreak.
But he clearly thought wrong when he felt his heart clench in pain at the sight of Yuto hanging on to Yamada as if his life depended on it.
He didn’t notice his feelings for Yuto had grew into love and he didn’t notice his own crystal like tears already falling.

“Why are you like this?”
“Hm, like what?” Keito asked, not even bothering to look at Yuto’s face.
“Like this.” Yuto pointed, flailing his hands in frustration. “Why are you ignoring me? Why are you giving me the cold shoulder? Did I do something wrong? Why, why, why?”
Keito shrugged. “I’m not. I’m just-this book is really interesting.”
“Keito!” Yuto looked upset. “If it’s revenge for what I did to you, then I guess I deserve-”
“What?” The older boy finally paid attention, closing his book (that he wasn’t really reading anyway). “No! No, I’m not avenging for that. You know I’d never do anything to hurt you,” he said in a small voice.
“Then why are you?”
“I’m just-trying to sort out my feelings and if I stay away from you for a while, I think I could. You see Yuto, IreallylikeyouanditmightevenpossiblybelovebutIknowyouwon’treturnmyfeelingsbecauseyoualreadyhaveYamada.”
Keito was hoping Yuto didn’t catch what he said since he said it so fast but miraculously, the boy did, much to Keito’s disappointment.
“What? You…like me?”
“Yeah, I think I should go now. This is getting awkward.” The older boy quickly stood up and made a rush to the door, only to be caught by the wrist. He didn’t know how Yuto managed to spin him around, everything happened in one swift motion, to face him.
Keito diverted his gaze to anywhere but Yuto.
“Look at me.”
He pressed his lips together, still refusing to look at the younger boy.
Yuto couldn’t stand it much longer so he held up Keito’s chin, making it impossible for the older boy to not look in his eyes.
“I love you.”
Keito’s eyes widened in disbelief. “E-eh?”
“I love you. I figured it out sometime ago and asked Yama-chan for help since he’s already with Dai-chan, you know that right?” Judging from the look on the English boy’s face, he didn’t have a clue. “Yeah, well, I don’t blame you. They hid it well. It took me a while too.”
An awkward silence filled the air between them for a while before Yuto broke it. “So I was wondering if-Keito? Why are you crying?”
“You-you love me,” he managed in between sobs. “You love me. You love me back.”
“Yes, yes, I do. So why are you crying?” Yuto asked in confusion as he tried to dry Keito’s tears away.
“I’m happy. I’m so happy that I’m like this.”
It took Yuto a little while more to comprehend that Keito wasn’t crying of sadness, but of joy. He laughed quietly, patting Keito on the head.
Realising the small distance between them and the position they were in, Yuto slowly claimed Keito’s lips in a soft, sweet kiss.
“If I really do please you like this, then I’ll stay by your side forever and ever.”
Fin.
