FADE IN

INT. APARTMENT- MORNING

A room lit by sunlight streaming in from windows. The walls are pale green with a pink daisy border, and the room is littered with moving boxes, all marked “Chloe's Room.”

The bed is made up with blue and purple bedding that has been rumpled from sleep. The closet sits open with more boxes inside of it, the rack about half-full with clothes and empty hangers. The walls are blank, and the windows are bare.

CHLOE KIM-LI, sits at an antique white wooden desk, writing a letter. She stops, looking up at a spot on the wall, taps her chin with the pen, and looks down, continuing to write. She finishes the letter and gets out an envelope, folding the paper and putting it in. She flips it around to look at the address and smiles. She stands.

INT. KITCHEN- MORNING

Chloe walks into the kitchen, envelope in hand. The kitchen is small like the rest of the apartment, with white countertops and appliances. There are already magnets on the fridge, one of which Chloe picks up. She attaches the letter to the door before opening it to get herself some breakfast.

MRS. KIM-LI, a short, middle-aged, though well-dressed woman enters. She looks at the door of the fridge, pausing at the envelope.

MRS. KIM-LI
Chloe, what's this?

CHLOE
Just a letter to Andy. I was going to go out later and get a stamp for it.

MRS. KIM-LI
Oh. Okay.

She opens the door, peering in as Chloe speaks to her.

CHLOE
Do you know where the post office is? That's the only thing I'm worried about. I don't want to get lost.

MRS. KIM-LI
Where is the milk?

CHLOE
What?

Mrs. Kim-Li pokes her head over the door.

MRS. KIM-LI
The milk?

CHLOE
Oh. Right here.

Chloe picks up the bottle to show her. Mrs. Kim-Li nods, taking it and pouring herself a cup. She exits the kitchen, leaving Chloe alone again. She sighs and takes the envelope off the fridge, carrying it out of the room with her.

EXT. CITY STREET- LATE MORNING- CONTINUOUS

A crowded city street. People rush by Chloe, going every direction and running into her as she opens her subway map. She looks up, searching for signs, spots one, and moves towards it. She goes down a set of stairs leading to the subway.

INT. SUBWAY CAR- LATE MORNING- CONTINUOUS

Chloe looks around the mostly empty subway car. She sees a BUSINESS MAN, to her left, tapping the screen of his phone, looking frustrated. He looks up and their gazes catch, and she looks away.

EXT. CITY STREET-NOON-CONTINUOUS

Chloe emerges from another set of stairs, opening her map again and looking around. She spots a UPS store and heads into it.

She comes back out a few moments later, stamps in hand. She walks to a blue mailbox, places a stamp on her envelope and puts it in the box with a flourish. She smiles to herself, and then puts her hands on her hips, looking around.

She decides to go back down the stairs of the subway.

INT. SUBWAY STATION-NOON

Chloe stares at the subway map, trying to decipher it. She puts her finger on a stop, and follows it back to another one, presumably her home. She taps it twice before nodding to herself. The train arrives and she gets on, the doors closing behind her as she grabs the metal pole.
