A/N: For Aqsa, aka bollywoodrecord. Late birthday present. :)
1. Office / SeoKyu
“Hey! Dude!”
“W-What?” Kyuhyun stuttered, snapping out of his stupor.
“Did you just stutter?” his office buddy, Changmin, asked incredulously.
“I don’t stutter,” Kyuhyun rolled his eyes coolly.
Changmin was not easily fooled. “Right, and I dumped Yoona.”
“Huh, I knew you two wouldn’t last.”
“Like I would dump her!” Changmin hissed, keeping his voice low.
He peered over his cubicle and saw the top of a girl’s head. Kyuhyun’s eyes followed. “Stop staring, it’s rude.”
“You like the new girl.” Changmin deduced, putting two and two together.
“I don’t know her.”
“It’s so obvious, though.” Changmin smirked. “Besides, you can hardly lie to your best friend.”
“I just think she’s...intriguing.”
“More like hot, or something.”
“I don’t think like that!” Kyuhyun glared.
“Well, I’m gonna head off now, since it’s our lunch break, and I’ll leave you here to deal with your feelings.”
“What a nice friend.”
“I’ll bring you back food?” the taller man grinned, leaving the room with other workers.
Kyuhyun realized that the only two left were him and the girl.
The girl who he, regrettably, did not know the name of.
He heard the sound of her clacking away on the keyboard, working diligently, no doubt, even through the break. This only increased his curiosity to get to know her. Kyuhyun rarely saw her around, but by using his connections, he was able to figure out a few things about her.
She was suggested to work at the office firm by her beloved unnie, Kim Hyoyeon. Kyuhyun had only heard of her name, and did not know the girl personally, but according to Minho, Hyoyeon worked on the level above them and was higher up in the ranks--or something like that, anyway. The new girl also came from an impressive college, achieving top grades in all her classes. Originally, she wanted to head straight into the medical field, but decided a little extra schooling couldn’t hurt, and thus, was juggling a job at the company, intense night classes at college, and apparently, a boyfriend.
Kyuhyun prayed that the last part was just a rumor.
In frustration, he banged his hands on the keyboard. He heard a startled shriek; the girl must not have known someone else was in the room with her. Kyuhyun recognized the sound of a swivel chair being pushed out, and soon, her footsteps were coming closer and closer to him.
“I’m sorry; I didn’t know anyone was here with me.” she bowed to him, a gesture of courtesy.
Kyuhyun gulped; suddenly, there was a lump in his throat. “It’s okay, um, uh, my computer was just having some issues.”
“Really? Can I take a look at it?” she smiled and peered at the screen.
Kyuhyun was screaming on the inside at their proximity.
“It looks fine to me.”
“Oh, yeah, whoops,” he stammered, “My bad.”
She was still smiling. “Since everyone else already left, would you care to have lunch with me?”
“No, I wouldn’t care at all--I mean, yes, I would love to. I mean, I wouldn’t love to, I would just like to--”
“I’m Joohyun,” she introduced, sticking out a hand and interrupting his messy response.
“Kyuhyun,” the man sighed, taking her small, delicate hand in his large, rough hand.
Joohyun’s eyes seemed to light up. “It’s nice to finally meet you.”
“Y-You too.”
“Do you stutter often?”
“No, actually.”
“Do you stutter when you’re nervous then?” Joohyun proposed.
Kyuhyun contemplated and gave her an easygoing smile. “I guess you could say that.”
2. Distance / ChangYoon
He misses her.
The thought hits him square in the face as he’s sitting by the small window, staring dejectedly down at the glittering lights of Japan.
He misses the way her eyes smile when she’s laughing happily at something he says to her. He misses the look on her face when he sneaks up behind her and wraps his arms around her in a gesture that screams, “You’re mine, and only mine.” He misses their secret late-night dates and midnight picnics under the stars. He misses the way her hand fits in his perfectly, like that final piece that completes the puzzle.
She completes him.
“Changmin, are you awake?”
“Huh?”
It’s Yunho; he is smiling all-knowingly. “We’ll be back in no time.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
Ding!
Changmin stares at Yunho quizzically. “Your phone?”
“Nope; yours.”
He checks his phone.
It’s Yoona.
3. Thoughtless / HeeSica
“Yah, Soo-man sungsaengnim!” Heechul burst into the office noisily, without so much as a bow of respect.
Lee Soo-man smiled, unperturbed. “How may I help you, Heechul-ah?”
“Did you see this article?” Heechul slapped down a newspaper on to the chairman’s desk.
“Yes, I did.”
Heechul huffed, about to go off on a tirade. “You--”
“I’m actually pleasantly surprised you confessed to Jessica,” Lee Soo-man mused with that same smile. “How are things going between you two?”
“How are things--” Heechul coughed. “Sungsaengnim, the article is false.”
“Oh, it is?” he asked, raising his eyebrows in complete surprise.
“Yes!” Heechul scoffed, “I don’t like her, anyways!”
“Huh, I really thought he had some sort of affection for her,” the chairman mumbled under his breath, mostly to himself.
“I want the articles gone!” Heechul grumbled, storming out of the office.
“Heechul-sshi, congratulations on your relationship with--”
Heechul glared at SHINee’s manager and continued on, until he finally reached the van outside. He hopped into the car and folded his arms, not saying a word while he was being driven back to the dorm. When he arrived, he was not very happy to find all the Super Junior members on the 12th floor dorm, eating breakfast together.
“Hyung, come join us!” Ryeowook said cheerily. “I saved you some!”
“Not hungry,” Heechul grunted, which went unheard by Ryeowook; the eternal maknae re-entered the kitchen to seek out Heechul’s food.
“Hey, is this about Jessica?” Leeteuk asked seriously.
“Oh, yeah! Congratulations, hyung!” Eunhyuk and Donghae chimed together.
“Yeah, we’re all happy for you.” Siwon nodded, sipping from his coffee mug.
“Now no one shall ever see the light of day again,” Kyuhyun muttered, rolling his eyes.
Heechul decided to reply to the leader. “Yes, it’s about stupid Jessica.”
“Relationship problems already?” Shindong frowned.
“Eh, it’s Heechul and Jessica,” Sungmin reasoned with a hearty chuckle.
“Look, Heechul, I know it’s hard.” Leeteuk regarded the second oldest member, placing a what was supposed to be comforting hand on his shoulder.
“No, nothing’s hard!” Heechul snapped. “You guys don’t get--”
“No, I get it!” Leeteuk insisted. “It was difficult when Taeyeon and I started out, but I know you truly love Jessica, so you’ll be able to get through it like I did with--”
“Listen. To. Me.” Heechul snarled. “We are not in a relationship, you idiots! Can you imagine what kind of a living hell it’d be for everyone?”
“I thought you loved her,” Eunhyuk squeaked, cowering behind Donghae; a pissed Heechul was a terrifying one.
“I don’t!” Heechul barked, “Not like that!”
“But the way you’re always talking about her,” Sungmin spoke up bravely.
“And looking at her,” Kyuhyun added for good measure.
“You talk to her all night on the phone.” Yesung jumped in, excited that he had thought of something. “Well, wait, Eunhyuk talks to Hyoyeon all night too, and they clearly have no relationship.”
Eunhyuk appeared hurt. “Hey, we’re actually--”
“And you’re extremely protective of her!” Shindong concluded.
“I even gave you two my blessing.” Siwon looked down at the table gravely.
“I talk about Hangeng all the time and talk to him on the phone; does that mean I’m in love with him?”
The members shifted uncomfortably.
“N-No, of course not.”
“Hehe, we don’t think you’re gay at all.”
“Psht, no...”
“Aish,” Heechul rubbed his temple. “What the hell is wrong with all of you?”
“Hyung, I brought your breakfast!” Ryeowook announced, scuffling into the dining area.
“I said I wasn’t hungry, Ryeo--”
“So how are things with you and Jessica-sshi, now that you finally confessed?”
“He didn’t mean that,” Leeteuk quickly rushed to his dongsaeng’s rescue, bringing him to Siwon’s side for extra protection. “Ryeowook, Heechul doesn’t love Jessica, remember?”
“Well, if he doesn’t love her, it’s the other way around. Yesterday, I overheard Jessica gushing to Tiffany about hyung.” Ryeowook pouted.
“You heard what?” Donghae gaped.
“Tell us what she said!” Eunhyuk pestered.
“Guys,” Leeteuk gave them stern looks, gesturing to Heechul. “We’re not gonna talk about this since it’ll make Heechul uncomfortable.”
The group sighed and returned to their silence.
Heechul coughed awkwardly, shattering it. “Well, are you gonna tell us what she said or what?”
The other members grinned; it was too obvious.
