Warning: All Caps abuse ahead!
I AM NOT ALLOWED TO BUY ANOTHER BOOK FOR...FOR 4 MONTHS. And that has to include...*voice catch*...manga, too. *tear roll*
Seriously, I'm trying to save money and things are tight; the last thing I need is to charge a bunch of books. But I love them! Fiction, non-fiction...they're all so pretty and I love it when they arrive in the mail. DLing to Kindle is a little anti-climatic by comparison, but that's got to go on hold, too. -_-;; I am going to stick to that. This includes /used/ books. No books! Just for a little while. I have MORE THAN ENOUGH here to keep me busy reading for 4 months (probably more like 4 years).
Being a creature of habit, having my schedule changed for the last week and a half for a work project has made me feel dysfunctional. I can't seem to get anything done. My To Do list keeps growing. I had a partial day off yesterday and was able to straighten up a little bit, but I still have sink full of dishes (and I am the dishwasher). I do have a 3 day weekend coming, my reward for working 11 of the last 12 days (and that one day off was spent at my grandmother's 94th birthday party, so it didn't feel much like a day off). Then next week I'm back to my nice, comfortable, normal schedule. *contented sigh*
Now the bad news. Thanks in part to the above mentioned work schedule (and the fact that I've been doing overtime since the end of April) plus my own poor self assessment, I am not going to participate in the tri as originally planned. I will come up with another event that I can participate in, but there just wasn't enough time left to get me ready for the swim portion. I was so worried about the biking portion and focused a lot of training on that--which, yeah, I could totally do that now and then some--but I wasn't getting into the water and learned quickly (with very little time remaining) that I did not have enough endurance to complete even a fraction of the distance needed for the swim. I decided I didn't want to personally meet the EMS crew that would be stationed at the event for just such a miscalculation of capability.
I'll be going still to be sithdragn's cheering squad! I am so proud of the work she's done and I want to be there to support her. Next year, I'll be along side her without a doubt. =)
I've said this to many people in RL and I'm saying it here too to make sure I stick with it. I AM NOT PICKING UP ANY OVERTIME IN THE MONTH OF JULY. I need a break.
