Minimum Security for Future Entries

Any user can set aminimum security level for all future entries. For example, settingthis option to Friends-Only or Private will prevent you fromaccidentally posting a public entry that you meant to post at aprotected level.

Set the minimum security level of all future entries in your journal by typing the following Admin Console commands:set newpost_minsecurity level
Set the minimum security level to Friends-Only, Private or Public by replacing level with friends, private or public respectively. You cannot set the minimum security level to a custom friends group.

When you change the minimum security level of your journal, the Update Journal Interface ( Update Journal page, a downloadable client, a voice post, or a post by email) will appear to default to 'Public', but LiveJournal will automatically change the security of the entry to your default level.

Ifyou specify a more restrictive security level than your minimumsecurity level, LiveJournal will use the more restrictive one. Forexample, if your minimum security level is set to 'Friends' and youselect 'Private', the entry will be set to 'Private' since 'Private' ismore restrictive than 'Friends'.

If you wish to post an entry with less restrictive security than your minimum, first post it with your minimum security, then edit it to change the security setting.
