crime shows and cable

I did not, by any means, grow up with cable.  (Growing up meaning that up until last year I did not have cable.)  Now we have this beautiful sparkly flat screen tv with more channels than square inches!  This is a New Thing and I have recently discovered the wonders of crime shows, the types they (they being executives, I suppose) run when there is nothing else to show and no one (no one being me!) expects anything better to be on.  Law And Order: SVU is the most magnificently horrible show I have ever seen because it takes itself so seriously and there is unresolved sexual tension everywhere and then there are bleeding heart naive scared and just generally unfit for duty detectives running around breaking rules and it is glorious.  I don't ever worry about anyone on that show because it is LaW: SVU and no one ever dies. Except the victims but they are not the point!

Criminal Minds is my favourite though.  My sister and I have been staying up til the strangest hours (the witching hour, even, two a,m. if I am not mistaken) watching Criminal Minds re-runs.  She is in love with Reid but I'm nursing this intellectual crush on him like no other.  It is hard for an awkward geek not to, I think.  Hotchner and Rossi are my favourite characters, though.  As a side note it is very, very, very, very nice to have a show with some really really strong female characters who Kick Ass like the guys of the show, and Garcia is fantastic for being Not A Stick yet the one with the most stable and faithful significant other and such.

However next time there is a Reid In Peril episode my initial reaction will be SORRY HOTCH BUT YOUR REID IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE... I think it would be deserved

cable tv is new to me, criminal minds
