straight outlined cause im in an organized sort of mood... :O)
-friday... took the train up to New York City
-visited my cousin Seth in chelsea... he works for MLB.com radio so I got to see him do his show! the whole thing was about baseball (obviously) but i was very proud of myself cause I was able to follow almost all of what he and his callers were saying. :O)
-after that, I went to my cousin Emily and her husband David's apartment to wait for Alyssa to call me... eventually we got in touch, haha... there were "minor" cell phone complications. and by "minor" i mean "extremely aggravatingly major"
-Met alyssa at her dorm on 13th street and went to her showcase, which was extremely good! It made me want to run up onstage and sing and dance again... the grad students from NYU did a tap piece to a song from Lil' Abner, which was INCREDIBLE. i miss tap dancing soo much. and acting, and singing, and performing in general. I can't wait to get to Ithaca and join a performing group, or even an improv group.
-after the show, we went back to her dorm and met these two guys she knew outside the building... i mentioned that I wanted to go to a hookah bar, and one of them was like "oh there's one on 11th and 1st" so I was very very happy. the hookah was $15, which kinda sucked, but hey that's new york. ;O) it was pretty much the same as the hookah in VA, only bigger (the place was bigger, not the pipes) and there were more flavors.
-after hookah, we went to this bar and the waitress was like "last call just ended but the bartender can probably make you like one or two drinks" but then the bartender was like "no no we're closed" haha I could tell that she wanted to get the hell out of there. so we went back to her room and went to sleep.
-the next day I slept til like 2... as usual, haha. we went to visit her friend Chris who is in the cast of Phantom, which was really fun and one of those "only in New York" experiences... we got to go backstage, ON stage, and into the costume room!! i was really really excited, but I acted cool. :O) she even gave us singing advice.
-After that, we went to dinner at this Italian place called John's, and then met Amy L at cafe Reggio. Amy didn't recognize me! I need to stop dying my hair or nobody will know who I am! ;O) so that was fun... catching up with Amy and talking about New York, and all that good stuff.
-after coffee and tiramisu (mmm) Alyssa and I went back to the hookah bar. I ordered a corona and they brought me one. :O) we left around 10ish (i think) and took the subway to this club called Show. her friend Evan worked there, so he was able to get us in and get us free drinks.
-so the club was really tight... lots of women there; I think its a popular place for bachelorette parties and stuff. Evan gave each of us two free drink passes... I got a gin and sprite, an appletini, and a rum and coke. I didn't finish the rum and coke, cause at that point I was really far gone... hahaha. I still knew what i was doing, but i totally lost all my inhibitions... I danced with a random guy (who apparently was really ugly, ahh!) and POLE DANCED!!! there were these little platforms with poles, and anyone could just get up and start dancing, and they'd shine the spotlight on you. it was awesome... and i DID say i really wanted to perform. ;O) then this big white guy came up there so i was like okayyyy time to get down. so i went down to the dance floor and alyssa and i danced for a while... she was basically sober; the two drinks she had (midori sour and vodka tonic) had like no alcohol in them, which sucked. but actually it turned out to be for the best, because i was REALLY drunk, and if she hadn't been there I probably would have a) been raped and pillaged on the way home, b) taken the train to newark, or c) fallen down the stairs at the subway station and died. haha well I'm exaggerating a little... but just a little. she also took my cigarettes away (which was smart of her) because I definitely did not need any more buzz than i already had.
-so eventually we got home... and i definitely crashed as soon as I walked in the door. I thought i'd wake up with a mad hangover, but i was fine... a little unsteady, but I'm not exactly poised and graceful in the morning (even when I wasn't drunk as hell the night before). I had a lot of water and got food before i fell asleep, so that probably helped. Actually, the only times i've really been hung over were the first time i ever drank, and when I got drunk off champagne a few New Years' ago. but champagne is a stupid drink to get drunk off, because it WILL give you a hangover no matter what. but i digress... I woke up at 11 cause my mom and Emily and David were coming to pick me up so we could go out to brunch.
-Brunch was fun... I love my cousin Emily, and i never get to see her because she lives in NYC and works ALL the time. as a matter of fact, in the span of time that I was in new york, she had been to Las Vegas AND connecticut, for work. but so yeah, it was really nice to see her. and when my mom was in the bathroom, we talked about the club, and drinking, and the "present" alyssa gave me that she bought from this guy on the street... ;O) i mean don't get me wrong, I told all of this stuff to my mom later, but it just seems weird talking about it with her when there are other people around.
-After brunch we (my mom and I) were SUPPOSED to take the subway to the staten island ferry, but apparently, due to construction, that stop was closed. SOOO we ended up in brooklyn... riiight. haha so we just doubled back and figured out which subway to take. so it was all good. we took the ferry to meet my dad, and then drove home. on the way home I was exhausted, but as soon as I got home I got this huuuuge second wind, and ended up having like a 3 hour debate with my parents about all sorts of stuff. Its weird-- I love having discussions with them, but at the same time I hate it, because my dad and i ALWAYS end up yelling at each other... but by the end its all good. weird. :O)
-So now that all this typing has thoroughly exhausted me, I'm going to sleep. See you all later!! Call me if you want to do something, because I have NO MORE PLANS for the rest of the summer (except concerts)!! :O)
