John... could not believe that Tony Stark was coming to Atlantis. After some necessary Woolsey-browbeating and some even more necessary clearance hoops, Tony was going to power the Stargate from Earth. Meaning that if this plan went off without a hitch (or at least a minor one) then the Atlantis crew could contact and move between Earth and Atlantis near-freely. It was a very exciting prospect... coupled with the fact that he was meeting Iron Man. There was.. always that. This guy had been his hero since he was a kid, and now John was going to help him. It was ... an amazing prospect really.
He waited by the gate with no small amount of intrigue or bounce in his step. No one else seemed quite as excited, well, except for the tech guys... John figured they must share his love for comics. Rodney would probably tell him this was a stupid idea, but the scientist seemed to be avoiding him anyway. And he was just jealous. McKay might be able to build a flamethrower, but Tony fucking Stark built himself a mobile suit. This guy was a god as far as John was concerned.
