Well, I might be able to help you out a tiny bit--- if you didn't see it in the author's notes, this fic is actually the fourth in a series I've been writing, all focused on the Basil/Ratigan pairing, all based on prompts from the kink meme. They've all been pretty twisted so far, so they might be able to satisfy you for a little while. ^_^
If you do read the others, you'll see that Basil's been a bit of a victim till this point, so it was great fun to write him finally gaining the upper hand. The two of them are such a perfect match for each other, and I love playing with their constant power struggle--- in a game like theirs, sometimes it's quite difficult to tell who's winning!
And I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the present tense! I'm a playwright IRL, so I tend to use the present tense without even thinking about it--- I like the urgency and immediacy it lends to a piece, as if it's all happening for the first time.
