Wow. Almost a month in between posts.
So, what's happening in my life? Well, obviously we moved house. Been settling in there. Since then we have had a heatwave or two. Including one now. About 12 hours after my last post I was asked if my Dalek could potentially be used in a photoshoot with Rob Shearman at the end of the month (this coming Thursday now.)
Of course, I said yes, despite being a long way off being done with the project. So I have spent the last fortnight panicing and rushing the complete the project in time, rebuilding, painting so many sections. Reworking everything to try and get the project done, or at least passable for a stills photo as soon as humanly possible.
And it's been insane. I have been working on the electronics, and they have caused more problems and money than they are worth. I am not sure if I will be bothering with them again in the future. So much effort for so little gain. Perhaps if they worked I would disagree with that statement!
I have around 72 hours to go, and still need to get the iris, plunger, eye-rotation and a few other minor odds and ends done to get it workable. I will have something, but I am sure there will be *some* wet paint for the event!
At the moment I have something looking a bit like this. And it will be okay for now. The project has been an extrmely expensive, time consuming, all consuming one. This is currently the Sunday afternoon before the Thursday event, I only have a couple more days (hours basically) before the event and it's been a heatwave. Not exactly ideal.
The other major setback I had was my computers power supply dying. Both of them, at the same time. It cost me the best part of a small fortune to replace, and took up the reminder of the money from my previous animation job.. the money I had put away for finishing the Dalek over the following week, away. It's all fixed and repaired now. For now.
Not having a job is extremly frustrating at the moment.
