Had a good weekend. Saturday we visited the Allentown Art Museum with friggasgirl , greenmanrn
and a friend of theirs. I am grateful to them for giving me the push in the butt to get out there. Left to my own devices, I would have given in to fatigue and m usual guilt about house projects and chores and missed seeing the Chushingura exhibit. Also props to immortallunaris for watching E for us so we could go. Thanks All!

The exhibit was quite good, actually. They had almost a complete set of the prints displaying each of the 47 Ronin and assorted characters from the kabuki version of the incredible true story. I found some details in each that were amusing and intrigueing. A nice shot in the arm for my Japanese interests.

We also saw a nice exhibit upstairs of armor, weapons, woodblock prints and paintings: ' Knights in Shining Armor Truth and fiction 1450-1650' . I recommend any of our local Landsknechts and other late-period personas to GO . Also check out the Renaissance paintings in the permanent gallery downstairs - some excellent details of garb and everyday life objects, not to mention the overall beauty.

Sunday we returned to our regularly scheduled program and did some garden chores. I finally took my mountain of cardboard to the recycling center and cleaned up my front porch. Also tried to figure out why my pond was draining by about a foot. It seems it was NOT a tear in the liner, thank goodness. Instead, what I found was an old pump hose I had carelessly left trailing out of the pond. It seems that somehow I had some good old fashioned hydraulics in action and didn't realize it. I guesstimated, after finding gh hose in the bushes, that the reduced water level in the pond was about even with the ground level the hose end was at. Hmmm... I filled the pond up to almost normal level. This morning, it is still at that level, I think, so it seems i found the culprit - my own carelessness. Elementary. Also turned under one veggie bed (not willful enough to do both), fixed a patio table, did a mountain of laundry and monitored 3-year-old tricycle races. A good day.

So anyway, I can't resist a video link, as you know, so here is my Monday morning skeevy selection:

weekend, gardening
