My husband suffered from this for about two years. The diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome plus acid reflux translated to "we don't know what the fuck is wrong with you, really" for me. Prilosec actually made him worse so we stopped that quick. Sorry you're hurting.
We found out he can still eat everything he wants, just not in the quantities he's used to. Think 1/4 gallon of chocolate ice cream in a sitting. He did an herbal digestive aid for a while. Played around with diet and stress levels. He's been good for about a year now without any herbals or drugs, but I've had to be a bitch to keep him on the straight and narrow. Good luck. (Hello, by the way.)
Sorry, I forgot to respond to this. I've been neglecting my Livejournal.
I've been eating better and in smaller quantities and I think it's helping. I used to eat massive quantities of Hershey bars and tomato soup and stuff with tomato sauce and on and on, stuffing myself until I couldn't eat another bite. I think I'll be alright now... if I don't starve myself to the point that I shrivel up and vanish.
Smaller, more frequent meals definitely help. Slower eating. Giving yourself time to digest. All should help with your acid reflux. Sucks about tomatoes. They are my favorite.

Anyway, I've added you to my friends list.
