Tom flung open the door of the apartment, his hands shaking. He had never in his life want to hurt a woman, but he'd be damned if he didn't want to slap that smirk off Ryn's face.
Lucy had been in the kitchen and walked out when she heard him calling. "Yes, I- Collins?" The last time he had looked that bad, Mr. Crowley had been involved... "Is everything alright?"
"Oh. You-you were?" That... was probably not good. Didn't stop her from kissing him back, but two guesses what they talked about, and the first didn't count.
"I'm sorry baby. Stay away from her, please. She's not a good person. She doesn't bother to think before she speaks, and she doesn't care about other people."
Lucy sighed. "She's my friend, love. I- I can't just stop talking to her." She sighed again, before tilting her head to kiss him again. "And I know she doesn't think, that's- that's what I was talking to her about. About what she said to you, about Roger. It just... got off-track a little."
Tom sighed and nodded. "I can't make you stop seeing her, and I won't try to force you. But please honey, be careful. I don't trust her not to hurt you anymore." He held her close and sat with her on his lap.
"This is exactly why I don't want you around her. No it's not something you needed to be reminded of. It's not something we're going to have to deal with for a long time. Unless..." Tom's eyes clouded over and he stared at Lucy.
Lucy stared at him in shock for a moment. "Never! Don't even think that!"
"I love you. I want to be with you. Even knowing that." She kissed him, putting everything she felt into it. "That's what I told you when we first got together, wasn't it? When... when the 'sooner or later' was sooner rather than later? It's still true now."
"Well you can keep it, for I shan't need it." Lucy kissed the top of his head. "I'm sorry, for the other night. I'm used to being the one who leaves and, well, I suppose I'd forgotten that wasn't true anymore and it- well, I suppose it scared me a little to remember."
Tom shooked his head and ran his fingers over her back. "Honey, never, ever apologize for coming to me when you're hurt. That's why I'm here, little one. I'm just sorry that Ryn felt the need to throw it in your face..."

"Just talking to Ryn, that's all."

"Maybe," Lucy said quietly, "maybe it was something I needed to hear. To be reminded of."

"Unless you'd just rather not risk the pain..."

He kissed her softly, returning the love she had put into her kiss, and then laid his head on her shoulder.
