A/N: This was inspired by
this video. I blame
matalinolukaret and
dugindeep completely for being dirty enablers. Oh how the tables turned haha. I hope you guys like this.
Jensen stood at the window and peeked inside the coffee shop to see Jared sitting and laughing with Matt, Aldis, and Sandy. He looked as gorgeous as always and Jensen’s breath still caught at the sight of Jared tilting his head back and full on guffawing, seal claps and all. He loved to make Jared laugh, and Jared loved to laugh.
Danneel nudged him and nodded towards Jared.
“You gonna hurry up there, Jennybean? Or you gonna just stare at your boyfriend through the window like a creeper?” She was smiling as she said it, though, so Jensen knew not to take her seriously.
“Shut up,” he shot back eloquently. Danneel just rolled her eyes at him.
Jensen shifted the stack of paper in his hands and knocked on the glass window. Aldis caught his eye and he nudged Jared so Jared could see him too. Jared beamed as soon as he saw what Aldis was pointing at and Jensen could feel his heart skip. God, he was so gone for this guy. He’d been with Jared since Jared’s freshman year at A&M and his first year of grad school. Almost two years later, and he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with that man.
Jensen waved before holding up the stack up paper so Jared could see.
Hi Midget!
Jared rolled his eyes, but smiled nonetheless. It was an ongoing joke between them, as Jared was actually ginormous. But he never failed to let it slide if Jensen was the one calling him that.
He pulled the sign off to reveal the next one and handed the midget one to Danneel, who was standing there for just that reason.
I know this is weird, but bear with me.
The flipped the sign.
I’ve been thinking about us and our future lately…
Jensen handed the sign to Danneel.
I know I’ve always said that marriage scares the fuck out of me!!!
Jared’s eyes widened just a little bit, but he was still grinning.
And my married friends always told me to run as fast as I could AWAY from the altar.
Jared laughed at that.
So I just brushed it off, thinking that maybe marriage just wasn’t for me.
He pulled the sign off to give to Danneel.
But one day I came to the realization that nobody makes me as happy as he does.
Jared was grinning huge and swatting Sandy who was poking him in his side.
Nobody had ever made me feel like that…so my brain said ‘no way!’
Jensen gave the sign to Danneel.
And I also realized that I DO want to grow old with you. So my heart asked my brain
Jared sat there on the edge of his seat, reading intently.
If you like it, why haven’t you put a ring on it?
Jared fell back, laughing, probably thinking of all the times they had mocked the song mercilessly.
So I thought about it…
He put the sign in Danneel’s arms.
And I came to a conclusion
Jared’s eyes had widened a bit again.
So Jared Tristan Padalecki,
He handed the sign off.
Will you….
Jared was smiling like Jensen and the sign were his entire world in that moment.
…
Jared’s eyes narrowed a bit at the ellipses and he waved his hand in a move the hell on, Jensen motion.
Will you marry me?
Jensen waited with the sign, watching as Jared read and reread over and over again. His hand came up cover his grin and he nodded shakily.
Jensen nodded to confirm and Jared nodded again, moving his hand to reveal that bright dimpled grin Jensen adored.
The next sign was uncovered.
I asked Jared to marry me, and he said YES!
He turned this way and that with it, showing it to the world, his own grin stretching across his face goofily.
Jensen gave the sign to Danneel, and darted inside the coffee shop where Jared had gotten up as well. He kneeled in front of Jared, minding the cameras that Matt and Danneel had in their hands, and pulled out the velvet box.
“So I’ve been a nervous wreck and I’m pretty much terrified right now. But I love you and I think you’re it for me. No, I know you’re it for me. I can’t see myself living with anyone else. Loving anyone else. I know I’m not perfect, and I know we’re probably going to argue about the stupidest things, but I want that. So, Jared Tristan Padalecki, will you marry me?” Jensen opened the box where lay a simple platinum ring with the J2 inscribed inside.
“Yeah,” Jared said softly.
“Yes?” Jensen echoed, still unable to believe. Jared nodded fervently.
He got up off his knee, pulled the ring from the box, grabbed Jared’s hand, and slid it on his ring finger. He tugged the hand to meet his lips and kissed the spot where metal met skin chastely.
“You and me forever, midget,” he said soft enough for only Jared to hear.
“Forever,” Jared confirmed, pulling Jensen in for a kiss amid the applause, laughter, and catcalls that surrounded them.
