Misha’s been best friends with Jared and Jensen since they were all neighbors in Kindergarten. They’d been through everything together: cooties, girls, boys, detention, sports, bullying, having a shit ton of homework, and everything in between.

Misha’s also known about sixth grade that Jared and Jensen were made for each other. He never felt like the third wheel, per se, but he always knew that Jared and Jensen were it. They would be the couple other couples could only dream to be. Of course, this didn’t mean that either of them knew it.

Jared and Jensen had come out to Misha separately freshman year of high school (and within the span of about two hours) about how they might like girls and boys. They had come to Misha because Misha had come out to them about being gay earlier and they thought he’d understand as he’d already been through it. Misha had just wanted to roll his eyes, knock each of them in the head, and yell DUH! He had resisted because he was an awesome friend.

So it was junior year of high school and Jared and Jensen were still as dense as ever about their epic love for each other. They hung out more than any people Misha knew, he saw the looks they sent each other when they thought nobody was looking, he saw that they would pretty much die for each other. He wasn’t jealous of them not paying attention to him, but jealous that he didn’t have what they had.

Jared, Jensen, Misha, Aldis, and Danneel formed this tight knit group of friends. They met Aldis around eighth grade when his family moved to Texas from New York. Danneel joined their group sophomore year of high school when her family moved from Louisiana. Misha, Jensen, and Jared were still neighbors and Aldis and Danneel lived a couple of streets away.

All of them would pile in Misha’s beat up car to and from school because he turned 16 before all of them. His parents gave him their old car and Misha didn’t really care because a car was a car and as long as he could get from one place to another he was happy. Everyone made fun of his car, but it was Misha’s baby, even if it looked like someone went at it with a crow bar in some places.

Jared and Jensen finally told each other they were bi towards the end of freshman year and both of them were relieved when they found out each other felt the same way. They were complete idiots to think that they wouldn’t feel the same way. Aldis knew too and was fine with it. Before they became really close to Danneel, they told her too and she was actually more excited than they were. Probably because she felt like she had someone to shop with and talk boys about or something.

“Mish Mish!” Danneel called across the courtyard while Misha was walking to class. Normally, Misha would punch whoever called him that, but he was a gentleman and didn’t want to get in trouble for hitting a girl. Plus, he was sure that Danneel could probably punch him back even harder if he even tried.

Misha waved and waited till Danneel made her way over. Misha was so happy when a girl finally joined their little group. Especially one as gorgeous as Danneel Harris. She was tall, beautiful, a redhead, and these amazing eyes. Misha knew if he wasn’t completely gay, he’d be totally into her.

Apparently Misha was the one who everybody felt they could confide in because Danneel told him she was crazy about Aldis and Aldis had told him he was pretty sure he was in love with Danneel. Misha wanted to bang his head against something, hard, for having two pairs of complete morons for best friends.

“Hey Danni,” Misha said when Danneel had finally come within normal speaking range.

“What’s up Misha? What class do you have right now?”

“English, you?”

“History.”

“Well at least they’re in the same place, kinda. So, how’s Aldis?” Misha teased. Danneel looked around quickly as if Aldis was right behind them and smacked Misha.

“Shhh!” She shushed him, “not so loud!”

“Oh c’mon, you know he’s on the other side of campus. You have his schedule memorized.”

“Shut up,” Danneel said, crossing her arms with a pout.

Misha just laughed at her because he was an awesome friend.

“So how are Jared and Jensen?” Danneel asked, changing the subject.

“As clueless as ever,” Misha said. And then it hit him. He came up with a plan to get both sets of friends to be happy and Misha to finally not be worried. Not that he’d ever tell anyone he was worried.

“Hey Danneel?” Misha asked.

“Hmmm?”

“I think I have a plan to finally get Jared and Jensen clued in on how they are made for each other.”

“Oh do tell!” Danneel said excitedly.

“Meet me after school today okay? Jared has Debate and Jensen has Theater practice. I need you and Aldis’ help with this.”

Danneel nodded and both of them went separate ways for class. Misha sat in his normal seat and sent a quick text to Aldis to meet them after school. He felt his phone vibrate with a sure man, see ya later and smiled. Hopefully, everything would fall into place.

Jared and Jensen hadn’t been on dates much since the coming out. They’d been interested in other people, sure, but hadn’t done too much about it. They did make out with random people at parties and stuff, but they hadn’t had any girlfriends or boyfriends yet.

Misha, Aldis, and Danneel all ride to their favorite diner a couple of blocks from the school and find a secluded table.

Then Misha laid out his plans.

“I think they need to get jealous and realize that who they want is actually right in front of them. Both of them need to get their heads out of their asses and get with the program.”
Aldis and Danneel nod along because this stupidity has gone on way too long.

“So here’s what I think we should do. Danneel, I want you to flirt with Jensen, but only when Jared’s around. Aldis, you do the same to Jared. I want the boys to think it’s possible to actually get together since we’re all in the same group. I want them to get jealous, realize what they’re missing, and finally get together.”

He stopped and let Danneel and Aldis think about it. He knew there’d be some type of protest from one or the both of them. And of course, there is. He tries to tell them it’d be just for show and they don’t have to do anything and flirting is completely harmless.

They grudgingly agree for the good of the couple and Misha wants to rub his hands together and cackle wickedly, but he thinks that might be a bit much.

So the plan is put into action. Danneel flirts endlessly, twirling her hair and giggling, with Jensen and Misha can see both Jared’s eyes and Aldis’ turn black with heat and envy. Aldis flirts with Jared, touching him a lot, and Danneel’s and Jensen’s eyes never leave the pair. The plan seems to be going perfectly because things get more heated and the sexual tension between the four of them is at an all time high.

Homecoming comes around and Misha knows Aldis wants to ask Danneel but that would throw the entire thing down the drain, so Misha steps up and says they should all just go as a group. Everyone seems relieved and they all get ready and make preparation for the big day.

They go out to eat before going to the dance and Misha has to admit that everyone cleans up pretty well. They get to the dance and both Danneel and Jensen get on the dance floor and so do Aldis and Jared. Misha dances with anyone he can and he bumps Aldis and motions him to Danneel and Jensen. Aldis takes a deep breath and goes over and Danneel barely gives Jensen a second glance as she steps into Aldis’ waiting arms. Jared and Jensen look over at each other, shrug, and start dancing.

Misha wants to sing ‘Kiss the Girl’ (well, boy) from Little Mermaid at them but at least they’re dancing together. Jared and Jensen look into each other’s eyes and apparently like what they see because similar goofy grins light up their faces. Aldis is whispering something in Danneel’s ear and she’s blushing and giggling and Aldis is smiling like he’s the richest man in the world for being able to do that.

Misha looks back at the guy he’s dancing with and he smiles at him.

“You’re some kind of matchmaker huh?” He says. Misha laughs.

Mike is hot. He’s pretty much the same height Misha is so Misha doesn’t have to strain his neck at all, fits well in Misha’s arms, and has an awesome smile.

“You could say that. I’m just getting those that belong together to see what they’ve been missing.”

“And what about you?”

“I hope to find that soon enough,” he says, tightening his arms around Mike as he lays his head on his shoulder. Yeah, Misha thinks he might have found what he’s been missing.
