“You lose!” shrieks Noah as he wins Sorry! for the fourth time in a row. He’s kinda upset at himself because while at first he was letting Noah win, it’s gotten to the point where Noah wins even though Jensen is trying his hardest. It’s like he’s cheating but there isn’t really an unobvious way to cheat.
“I do lose. Again,” Jensen laments. “How about we do something else Noah?”
Noah looks up at him, eyes scrunched up like he’s thinking and it’s the same exact face Jared makes when he’s thinking too that it makes Jensen smile.
“When’s Daddy coming home Papa?” Noah asks again and Jensen suppresses a sigh.
“I don’t know buddy, but soon I hope. You know he likes to be home in time to tuck you in,” Jensen says, glancing at his watch again. Noah nods, even though Jensen knows he’ll ask again in a couple of minutes if Jared’s not home yet.
Just then a click sounds from the front door and before Jensen can even blink, Noah is up and running towards the door. Jensen takes his time getting up. The door opens and Jared walks in, looking haggard and exhausted with his clothes all wrinkled up.
“Daddy!” Noah screams jumping into Jared’s arms. It’s very lucky that Jared has such good reflexes. Both of them do, with such a fireball like Noah.
“Hey kid, how was your day?” Jared asks, voice hoarse with saying lines all day.
“Good! Me and Papa played Sorry! and I won four times!” Noah says and Jensen’s smile dims a little at the reminder of his loss. Jared looks over Noah’s head and laughs at Jensen’s expression.
“You did? That’s awesome Noah!” And he puts his hand up for Noah to high five it. Noah does, and Jensen is in awe of the extreme different of Noah’s tiny hand and Jared’s ginormous paw.
“You ready for bedtime?” Jared asks him and Noah shakes his head no, but yawns right after and both Jared and Jensen chuckle.
“C’mon sport, let’s get you to bed,” Jared says, walking over to Jensen and kissing him hello. I missed you. I love you. before shifting Noah up a little and walking him towards his bedroom.
Jensen may have lost in the game, but he definitely won in life.
