Sometimes life just really throws you for a loop. The past year has felt like that, however a lot of good has come through as well. I bought my first house, I'm running and working out to keep myself in good shape, my family is stronger and closer due to a great loss, I've learned that I need to put ME first in my life because at the end of the day, I matter!
Even though I've been through a lot of interesting things in the past year both personal and professional, I think that I realize that it is a good thing to take time for myself and say no to certain things and put my foot down at times. Life is too short to not do things you want and it's important to pay attention to those that matter to you and yourself. I've been thinking about my dad a lot lately and I know that he'll always be in the back of my mind and his voice will come through whenever I need it, but I think that he'd be pretty happy to know that all three of his daughters are all homeowners, have a college educations that he funded due to his hard work, has a great wife whom we've all become close with, showed us how much our entire family really does mean to us, and given us the power to live independently. I saw this quote driving home from the gym yesterday and it really felt like it was my dad's way of saying, Hang in there, stick it out, it'll be just fine.
There was a sign that read: "Don't ride out the storm, good things happen in the rain." Thanks dad, I'm going to embrace the storms along the way, cause I know that good things will come out of bad.
