'Twas the night before school starts,
and all through the home
every child was realizing
How their brain, it did roam!
Winter break, it was done!
Yes, it's time to go back!
But the children all knew
They were slackers, beyond slack!
"Do you have homework?", Mom asked
When she retrieved them from school
"Nope!" "Not me!", they replied
But how Mom was a fool!
For the night before break is over
She asks, yet again...
"Did you have any homework?"
The children fear it's the end!
"Ugh, a book report!", says one,
"HISTORY PROJECT DUE THIS WEEK!", says another
"OY VEY", says poor mom!
They both flaked, sister and brother!
And how was the madness epitomized,
One might wonder?
Those scatterbrained mongrels,
They blamed Mom for the blunder.
