He wraps an arm around her shoulder and pulls her against him.
"I'd no notion." he explains. "Well, actually that's not strictly true. I knew something was amiss - the Sight was able to tell me that much. But not who. Or what.."
He gives her a tight hug.
"As soon as Adam told me, I - we, came right away. You gave me a right scare, you did.. "
They are as confused as I. My gift doesn't seem to be of any use. Frankly, it reminds me of how they responded to Jon's illness. Too much heat, not enough air and entirely too much chanting.
"Here now, I thought you knew better than that." He smiles.
"Your friendship with my mother goes nearly as far back with my friendship with you. She loves you like her own and I suspect that's unlikely to ever change. When I'm done here, I'll stop by the house and tell her - 'long as you don't mind?"
Come in.
*It sounds like Alanna, but there is an undeniable and unfamiliar note of strain in her voice.*

Permission granted, he opens the door and steps into the room.
"Hullo la-Alanna." he says, crooked smile on his face.

*Her grumpy look transitions into a sheepish smile as she glances at the sword now on the floor beside the bed.*

But isn't that the very nature of their relationship?
Relaxing somewhat, he tries again.
"I'd have been here sooner, had I known something was wrong.." he points out.
He makes his way to the bed and carefully sits on the edge of it.

Oh. You didn't know? I... I thought you would have heard something. I would have written, but I don't seem to think straight these days.
It's so stupid, really.
*She looks up, eyes bleary and more than a little damp.*

I'm sorry. It's all rather a blur. I remember helping to distribute the food, and after, but the attack itself is a bit... fuzzy.
Better late than never, correct? *She carefully hugs him back.* I'm so glad you're here.

"You first. Else I'll fret myself to pieces.."
He looks closely at her face.
"How are you feeling? - aside from wanting desperately to get out of this room.. because we both know how much you love forced bed-rest."

*Muttering, Alanna feels her eyes glaze over. She avoids the question until she realizes that George will just keep asking.*
I feel... strange. Far from well, but well enough to be infuriated by my confinement. I'm worried about Adam. Jon. You.
Thom, naturally.
I get fevers.

He's not surprised. Not really.
"More the fools they. Have you consulted with my mother at all? Mayhap she has some idea as to this strange.. whatever this is."

*She tilts her head, clearly giving this some thought.*
She might, at that. I suppose I wasn't sure if she'd want to talk to me much.
