“Good. Maybe she will be able to get us some valid intel on her part and this entire night won’t end in a total disaster! Ask her if she has eyes on Marconi.” Peter busied himself with getting some information from Diana and giving her new orders, all through Jones, and forgot for a few minutes about his consultant, who still had his forehead pressed against Peter’s shoulder and one of Peter’s arms wrapped around him, keeping the blanket in place.

At first the ex-con just waited patiently for his pissed partner to push him away, enjoying every second of blissful warmth before he would be left with only his blanket. But when Peter got busy with putting his new plan into practice and made absolutely no move to change their current arrangement, Neal let himself sag a bit more against the agent. The truth was, he really was tired. They had only two days to gather enough intel on Marconi and work out the best plan to approach him and that meant working day and night, digging through countless files. Neal figured he probably should have ignored Peter’s “Not another word!” comment and just told him that he had actually found something in that bedroom, but since Peter was now all over Jones (and Diana, by extension), he decided to wait a bit and enjoy his temporary human heater. He dozed off almost immediately.

Jones was probably the only one truly aware of the spectacle that’s been playing out in front him from the moment his fellow team members entered the van. And he died many deaths trying desperately to look serious and professional while Peter gave him all the necessary details that needed to be passed over to Diana, somehow totally unaware that he had an ex-con actually sleeping in his arms.

“Uhm, Peter?” Once they had both made sure Diana knew exactly what to do, Jones figured he had to do something, if not to save Neal, then at least himself.

“What is it?!?” Peter didn’t mean to sound harsh, but he had definitely had enough of this entire operation.

“Uhm. Nothing.” Jones kept his eyes on his boss and the sleeping ex-con and just couldn’t help himself any longer. “I just wanted to tell you that I completely agree with you… with your opinion about Caffrey’s stunt tonight. I mean, it really was stupid. Happily married guys with beautiful wives don’t end up with another man in their arms. There’s just no way. So… yeah, totally agree.” He stood up and reached for the door. “I’m gonna go to the little boy’s room. I’ll be back in a minute.” And with that he sprinted out of the van, leaving somewhat confused Peter behind.

Unfortunately, Peter’s confusion lasted about five seconds because once he was alone in the van, he finally decided to finish chastening his defiant charge, realizing immediately what had just happened. There he was, with his arm wrapped around his partner who was sleeping peacefully, practically glued to his chest. Now Peter was sure there was going to be at least one murder tonight.

“Neal? You have five seconds to get yourself to the other side of that seat or I swear to God I am going to hurt you!” He grabbed Neal by the shoulders and slightly pushed him away, making sure the con was awake before he brought hell down on him.

“Peter… Sorry…” Neal awoke almost immediately and instinctively moved away from Peter, but only by a bit so that their shoulders were still touching. He reached for his soaked jacket and took out a piece of paper from one of the pockets. “Here, I found Marconi’s electronic organizer. He’s meeting with Justin Cleever next week. Justin is a fence, so it has to have something to do with the painting.” He gave the piece of paper to Peter and buried himself under the blanket. “If Diana gets us the rest of the details, we’ll be able to take him down once and for all.” Neal smiled at Peter and then threw his head back, letting it rest against the wall.

“Unbelievable!” Peter studied the information written on his newly acquired piece of paper and just shook his head. When Jones finally returned to the van, he found his boss with one of the headphones pressed to his ear, giving Diana an update, sitting shoulder in shoulder with Neal who was about to doze off again. He took his seat without a single word, trying his best to hide the smirk forming on his lips when Neal’s head once again found its way to Peter’s shoulder and Peter was once again about to burst a blood vessel. This whole night was already better than a truckload of mustache pictures. And it still wasn’t over.

A/N: I'm not sure about this one, but I had this idea stuck in my head and kinda had to get it out, I'm not sure there's enough snuggling... But I'm already thinking about the "father/son + nightmares" combo :P A lot more snuggling potential there :P

LOL I loved this, it had the appropriate snuggling under the circumstances. I laughed outloud and my brother had to ask why over the leopard not changing his spots but he sure can climb a different tree once in a while. I also am the one who thought of father/son nightmares and if you would you would so make my day. You get the father/son dynamic so well. Peter so sounded like a father who is worried as hell that his kid just about got killed or could have, and feeling more comfortable covering it with anger, especially since he has his underlings there.

When Jones started in on telling Peter about how happily married men with beautiful wives don't suddenly hug men I nearly bust a gut laughing. That was hysterical.

Brilliant! Loved the piece where Clinton repeated back Peters own words and he suddenly realises Neal is in his arms. So cute!

WOW, thank you, everyone! Now I've got a feeling this will eventually end up being a "Five times..." thingy :P I'm gonna need a few days to work on the father/son+nightmares combo because this has to be a bit more serious, so no leopards climbing different trees there *hee*... There's also this prompt -> http://community.livejournal.com/collarkink/1404.html?thread=2671996#t2671996 which is definitely on my list as well, perfect for the Five Times series :D
