So, Im not loving The Tempest. And Im aware this is a common trend in me, but I really just can't relate to it. Perhaps its the complexity of the language, perhaps its the fact that im based a few centuries after the written date, or perhaps I read it when I was exhausted, either way, Im not enjoying it! I must admit though, it probably has alot to do with the fact that whilst i was reading it, not much absorbtion was occuring. Ask me what its about, and il have to reallly think about it! I promise, I'll read it again, after this hit of assesments are done. I promise, but until then, I cant comment much about it! Which is a shame, nonetheless, I found myself thinking about Ovid's Metamorphoses again. I really like the spin Golding has put on the impact of industrialisation. So while my mind was racing, I decided to jott a few things down- here is how my mind works. Pardon the questions.
What happened to Our World?
When did Adam and Eve and the life of pure nature become an industrialised monstrosity? Where nature lost most importance and fights to exist? Where animals are no longer appreciated? When did the 'good' life depend on money? How did the good life- that of doing the right thing, morally and ethically, become the 'good' life- what money can buy? How did Chanel and Prada, and Mercedez and BMW con us into believeing they were true happiness?
Its funny how money controlls our world and how many of us allow money to do the controlling. For example, I cant see my friends tonight because im broke. Who would of thought that enjoying anothers company comes at a cost?

Whatever happened to those easters where the whole family sat together, instead of the 14 year old scanning items at a checkout wishing every other person a happy easter. Even better, where did those Sundays go, where there was no such thing as a double rate, instead there was such thing as family time- no shops opened! Its ironic how some still wonder how their children don't understand the value of family the way the older generation does. Do people really believe its this generations fault? How can it be this generations fault, when all our lives the importance of cash has been drilled into us, lettting us believe that with money comes happiness and opportunity.

Furthermore, what happened to the good ol' Aussie mateship? Where helping ou a mate came at no cost? I kid you not, I witness a best friend ask a brother for helping him move into his new home. Does helping people from the goodness of your own heart still esist? Or does everything come at a prive these days, including family and freinds?
