Okay, I'm finally starting to dig out of my hole. Communications will resume shortly. I also have a couple of new ideas for writing topics, so I really am going to finish the "Dear Friends" series soon so I can move on to other things. Really.
As of Monday, we have a new employee. He is graduating college in May and will start with us full-time in the beginning of June, although he plans to come in for a couple of days of training prior to that. I had a really good feeling about him, and so did Joe, and we have a lot of hope.
A third window motor on my car died at lunchtime today. My window's still working, but it's the only one left. That's a pretty clear sign. I'm no longer holding out hope that I can wait till January to replace the car. I just have to decide between trying to hold out until after credit checks for a new lease (we're moving in September), or just buying a new car prior to the registration and inspection expiring in June. I guess I'd better start looking around seriously at the dealerships, either way.
My brother called me this evening. He and Renee just got back from a friend's wedding in Prague, and they got engaged while they were there. No surprise, we've all been expecting it, but exciting nonetheless. Like the air sign he is, he managed to surprise himself with the way he did it. He had a plan, and was all ready for it - and she was expecting it then - but they hadn't gotten there yet, and they were walking across a bridge that's very romantic and one of her favorite spots. The moment felt right, so he just got down on a knee and said he needed to ask her something. She said "Oh, you want me to hold your camera?" And instead he asked her to marry him. They're looking at either summer 2009 or summer 2010 for the wedding, depending on when and where she gets her internship.
It's a little odd to think that my little brother's old enough to get married, but if I'm old enough to consider myself off the shelf, he's certainly old enough to be on it. I'm delighted; Renee's exactly the right girl for him, and I can finally stop feeling guilty when I think of her as my sister-in-law.
That's all the news I can think of for now.
