so. i'm in the process of writing a massive post about london and it's ways.
but something's come up, and this post has to jump to the front of the queue.
so who's been stopped by the police?
who's been stopped by british police?
who's been stopped by the police in Kent?
that's right.
WHAT A DAY
what started out simply as this:
i mean how many castles can you stand to see?
so it wasn't super great. england was looking rather gray.
i used to be your best time buddy that you couldn't wait to see
but then:
they can't buy the sunshine
from my castle, i went to go look for the white cliffs of dover. i've been there before, but today was such a gorgeous day. and i couldn't find them. but then i found a path of this road. and i figured i might as well give a try.
so i did.
i don't know where we are going now
and boy did i have to endure:
it was only for my superb sense of direction that i was able to determine which path to try (you can't see, but there were many).
but i did find this. in the middle of nowhere.
but then this too:
so i was begining to question whether or not this was any trail at all, much less the one i wanted. but then i found this:
but it was pointing the wrong way. but i followed the path i saw. and then it dumped me onto this expressway:
i dashed across, seeing steps on the other side, and then eventually got to my white cliffs after a whole lot more sketchy trail.
up above the clouds, there is always a blue sky
and so with the sun and and an ipod and nothing to do, i'd do what all londoners would do:
laying back, head on the grass, chewing some gum, having some laughs
making the most of this true british climate
i fell in love by the seaside
i had a dream you took me southwards on a plane and showed me spain or somewhere
the grass really is greener on the other side.
even the birds are better
couldn't escape from you, couldn't be free of you, and now they know there's no way out
that was the best hour or so i've spent in an awful long time. i figured that regardless of what happens, regardless of what job i have, regardless of it all, as long as i can come back here from time to time, i'll have it better than most.
i guess that sort of sets where i want to end up.
you are my only hideaway
and for the police, i was in the middle of highway, trying to cross the other half on my way back, and they stopped behind me, blocking a lane of traffic and said "Excuse me, no pedestrians are allowed on this road."
He looked confused until i told him about the steps on the other side, and i was just trying to catch the path again. he knew it was a county path because of the steps i presume. because when i pointed it out and asked him if it was ok he was fine with it, and started to drive off, while i ran across the freeway.
you made me feel like the one
so grab a download of "What If I'm Right" by Sandi Thom. stellar voice she has. incredibly catchy.
but take a listen to that if you want any chance of feeling as perfect as i did.
but here's the song for this post. remember how your friend James Blunt's You're Beautiful or your almost american friend Daniel Powter's Bad Day (one could make the case for either, but it's probably Bad Day, your british friend just wasn't touring) were the songs of last summer?
Well this year, beyond a doubt, it's The Feeling's "Fill My Little World" and so for england, london, and times like those, here is your summer's anthem:
I had a dream we went away,
left this city for a day,
You took me southwards on a plane,
and showed me spain or somewhere.
But in reality your,
not so keen to show me anything,
and I thought you liked me.
Hey show some love,
you aint so tough,
come fill my little world,
right up,
right up.
Someday your going to realise.
(i want you to) To fill my little world,
right up,
right up,
right up.
So what you gonna to do with all this stuff,
pilling up, filling up, taking up. (my little ....)
you misunderstand me,
all i wanted was some evidence,
that your really like me. (you really liked me)
Hey show some love,
you aint so tough,
come fill my little world,
right up,
right up.
Someday your going to realise.
(i want you) To fill my little world,
right up,
right up,
right up.
Maybe its all too much,
maybe i dance too much
Maybe i'm not enough,
maybe i'm just too much.
Hey show some love,
you aint so tough,
come fill my little world,
right up...
Hey show some love,
you aint so tough,
come fill my little world,
right up,
right up.
Someday your going to realise.
(i want you) To fill my little world,
right up,
right up,
Hey show some love,
you aint so tough,
come fill my little world,
right up,
right up.
Someday you're going to realise
that im passing you by, so fill your little world,
right up,
right up,
right up,
