Heehee, the little mood icon looks like he's on acid.

Jeffco went back to school today.  I can no longer say, "yay the kids wen't back to school"  It was my first day too, and wow, am I tired! I didn't even have my kids today, I was in the kindergarten room for most of my morning.  Need I say more? Okay, I can't resist, I have to.  I was helping out in kindergarten because the teacher has a large class and his paraprofessional doesn't come in until 10:00 or so.  I had to help with the seperation of kids from their parents and parents from their kids.   One little boy would not let his grandma go.  The school psychologist had to hold him back so that she could leave.  There's more issues to the little guy to that makes it even worse.  Anyway, I was entertained by the few mothers that didn't want to leave.  I was surprised that there were only a few, but those few I had to be kind of sturn with as ask them to leave.  Sure, Nicole, you're new, kick the parents out, everyone hates the special ed teacher anyway, lol.  It wasn't so bad, I'm sure that when I have kids I'll be the same way, but that won't be for a while, so I'll enjoy it from the other side for a while.  ;)

It turns out that I'm going to have a very large case load.  I have all of the kindergarten kids in special ed. at one school, along with first and second graders.  one might think that 17 kids isn't too many, but 8 are in kindergarten, this means doing tests to determine if these kids should still be placed in special ed or not.  Don't forget, I still have 9 or 10 kids from the other school, and every kid who is at their three year eval. needs to be tested too.  The annual meetings and paperwork for the other kids isn't so bad.  The other school I'm at said that this is unheard of to put on a first year teacher and she took my two kids that I had in kindergarten.  Either way, this is going to be a very busy year, hopefully the other teachers help me out.  It's so strange going from high school to the really little ones in elementary school.
