I am already sunburnt, and smelling smoky from last night's bonfire.
The community gardens are the most beautiful things I've seen in a long time.
I move in to my apartment in two hours (!), which is unfurnished and ripe for decorating.
People here are good-- I like them a lot. They're less self-conscious about being intellectual, and the casual conversation often turns to philosophy, science, or literature. That's something I've always felt self-conscious about, so I appreciate this new change.
On the other hand, it seems like everybody in this town is stunningly beautiful by mainstream standards. I wonder how that happens to a town-- whether they all secretly put a lot of effort into their appearance? Or whether the culture here (of being outdoorsy, physically active, and often outside) leads to a fitter, tanner populace? In any case, it's taking a lot of effort on my part not to get sucked into middle-school self-consciousness about not being tan and fit.
