Or I could just call it, Me and Raoul. Before I tell ya'll about this weekend, allow me to share one image with you. Eh hem.
Now, let me start at the beginning.
Friday night: Marie, Moosa, and I had dinner in Avon/Canton at a place simply called "Flatbread". It was, unbeknowst to all of us, a glorified, hippiefied pizza place. Dave joined us later and we all watched Marie kick some serious Warg ass.
Saturday: Mom and I met Jen in the city for lunch. We did our usual trip to the Hershey's store where Mom forced us to buy chocolate. Jen saw us off to the theatre and then Mom and I headed in. We were in row BB. It was INSANE!! We seriously could see up Patrick Wilson's nose. It was awesome. The only time I was ever really that close to the stage was the second time I saw Taboo and I sat in the front row. Anyway, show review!
Barefoot in the Park was in all honesty, kind of dated. It was set in the late 60's. And Amanda Peet's performance as a supposed emancipated woman, was well, not translating. The actors didn't have microphones, but that wasn't a problem for any of them, except her. You could so tell she wasn't a theatre actor. She was more concerned with being heard than really being emotional in the first act. She was better in the second act. Patrick Wilson was AWESOME as Paul. In the first act and for most of the second, he played the uptight lawyer to a tee and in the last scene of show, He absolutely OWNED it. Plus they played groovy sixties music in between scene changes, seriously the whole audience was singing along with Petula Clark and The Supremes. I do think it's worth seeing, I would love to see it again, if only to see Patrick Wilson in his underwear again (total sixities tighty-whities).
After, we waited by the stage door. Bonnie brought her Full Monty cd and I had my Phantom dvd. They had some barricades up, there wasn't a major crowd or anything, but I was standing behind a girl who was seriously, hogging way too much space. There is some ettiquette involved in post show stage door waiting, and this chick was so not abiding by it. Anyway, more on her later.
Amanda Peet comes out and does a quick breeze by, signs like 3 autographs and then bolts. No surprise there, and really, I didn't care. Three other actors come out and then finally, Patrick (who btw was totally kissing Selma Blair) Seriously! I knew she was in the audience because I saw her in one of the boxes. And she went in the stage door and then came out with him. Anyway, I push Obnoxious Chick over because, hey, I can out obnoxious anyone when I REALLY want an autograph. (Well except for that time with Jesse L. Martin at Cabaret, but hey, he WAS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!!!!)
Anyway, Patrick Wilson. He was very sweet and funny just like he was at the Full Monty stage door, he took the time to sign autographs and take pictures with everyone who wanted them. While he was signing my Phantom dvd, Obnoxious Girl asked him if Christine ended up with him or the Phantom. I turned to her and said "Did you see the last scene of the movie? She gives me this like, "duh" face and then I start explaining to her how the gravestone said Christine had been the Comtesse de Chagny and had obviously been married to Raoul. And then I furthered my Phantom nerd factor by adding, that while it could have meant she married his brother Phillipe, it was highly unlikely as his charcter was in the book but never appeared in the show or movie. I kinda got lost in my Phantom geekdom and forgot Patricl Wilson was STANDING IN FRONT OF ME. Needless to say he was very amused, told me he was impressed and a little scared of my Phantom knowledge. As are most of you, I'm sure. As I said he was really cool, he made fun of the picture of himself on the inside of the dvd and signed the front, right on Gerard Butler's head. He took the picture with me and then, I shit you not, kissed me on the cheek.
Patrick Wilson has now moved up to the top of my favorite stage door experience list.
After that, we walked to Grand Central. It was a little after 5 pm and at 5:20 there's an express train that gets back to our train station in an hour, if you can catch it. We got snackage for the ride home, and bread for Dad. we stopped to get drinks where Bonnie put down the bags she was holding to pay. She grabs her stuff and we book it to the train. Just as it's pulling away, someone asks us if something is ours, a random scarf, but it wasn't, and that's when she realized she didn't have the Hershey's bag. It didn't just have the chocolate. It also held my dvd, her cd and her digital camera. Luckily a conductor pulled the emergency break and we went back to where she bought the drinks and they had the bag behind the counter.
So that was fun. We had about 25 minutes until the next train left so we went to that and just sat and chilled. And I thanked the Goddess. Several times.
And finally, Sunday: Moosa, Kathy and I concluded The Great Hunt for Liquid Latex, where we found out it could be ordered for Moose in the color she wanted. We went to a tattoo place where Kathy wanted to see about covering over her old tat with a cool new one. No joke, we left TWO HOURS later. We now know way too much about his personal life. Seriously, If I ever got a tat from him, all I'd be thinking about was him and his cialis usage.
That's about it. It was as I said a fun weekend. Tom'w should be a real interesting day at work. Detauils to follow.
