History of Woah

So yesterday on my way home after a lovely lunch with Marie, visiting my grandmother, and then going to TJ Maxx, I drove to Danbury to get tickets for the first showing of History of Violence for today, because Lil and I decided, if we had the tickets in advance, we'd HAVE to see it.

Which we did.

It was amazing. The violence, as I was warned (ty btw), was very realistic. I didn't feel the need to hide my eyes, but there were times, I would almost be in tears with my hand over my mouth. And it wasn't after any of the bloody parts. I found the human reactions stunning. I mean that in a good way. I didn't feel it was a sensory overload so much as an emotional one.

Spoiler warning:

That scene where Maria Bello baits Viggo into getting violent and then having sex with him was to me one of the most shocking parts. I was like, what are you doing woman? You JUST laid into him for lying to you and now you like it?!

The writing was excellent, and I LOVED Ashton Holmes, who played Jack, the son. He is so going t be someone to watch. And William Hurt? Who knew he still had acting chops? All his most recent performances had me doubting.

Anyway, after the movie, we parted ways and I went to Target for some much needed stuff. I drove the long way back through Newtown and enjoyed a nice afternoon of no rain.

friends, movies
