Because I Have Done Absolutely Nothing For the Last Few Weeks

Beware: Backtrackage of DOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Seriously, I need someone to thwap me (lightly) when I let my lj go this long without an update. We'll consider this a test to see how well I remember what I did during the past 2 weeks or so. Let us begin.

Day Before Thanksgiving: Or rather, the night before, Marie and I saw Casino Royale (my time #2). Incidentally, when they showed the We Are Marshall trailer, Marie had the same reaction I did when they showed the first shot of Matthew Fox, who was, surprise surprise, crying. Although her reaction was a bit louder than mine. :)

Thanksgiving: spent as usual with the family in Queens. A good time as always. And Bonnie, did not, for the record, make that nasty chocolate thing.

Black Friday: woke up at 4:15 am. I got some good deals that morning. What I also got that morning, was someone's hair (not mine) in my scrambled eggs at the diner Bonnie and I ate at after shopping. Yeah, ew!

After sleeping for a few hours after all that, I headed to Torrington and the usual suspects went to see For Your Consideration. It was great & funny, but comparatively speaking, A Mighty Wind is still my favorite of the Christopher Guest movies.

The Saturday after that: Bonnie, Jen and I did a Broadway double-header. First we saw Grey Gradens in the afternoon. It was really good. It was also really disturbing in a train wreck sort of way, just like the documentary it's based on. Christine Ebersole was AMAZING.

At night, we saw the revival of Les Miz. It was, well, it was exactly like it was when I saw it a few years ago. Seriously, with the exception of Gary Beach's performance, everything was like a carbon copy of the original. Don't get me wrong, for the most part it was excellent, I just wish they had done something new.

My one complaint, though was Daphne Rubin-Vega. She was totally miscast as Fantine. In any other show, I'm sure she'd be awesome. But for starters, Fantine is a soprano and watching Daphne try to hit those high notes, was rough. It made my little Rent fan heart cry.

That Sunday: Scott and I went to see Casino Royale. Also of note, during the We Are Marshall trailer, Scott leaned over and asked me why it seemed that all Matthew Fox knows how to do to do is "cry like a little girl". I seriously love him. And Scott of course, totally loved the movie.

Also, Scott TOTALLY has a man-crush on Daniel Craig, as well he should. Apparently now his netflix queue is filled with Daniel Craig's harder to find movies. We SO have a standing date to see Hotel Splendide when he gets it. And Archangel. And Munich, which isn't really all that hard to find at all, but still.

Last week: The Women and Wine Tasting fundraiser for Love Makes a Family. It was a lot of fun and I got to talk to some very cool new people. Work last week was kinda sucky. Actually, so was work this week. Here's hoping next week is better.

Also last week, was Miz Moosa's bday. And also last week, Saturday to be exact, Lil and I went to see a movie. Sadly she didn't want to see Casino Royale. But we did go to Edmond Town Hall to see The Devil Wears Prada.

Incidentally, upon hearing and reading all the stuff about Casino Royale, she does now want to see it. So Scott and I have, out of the goodness of our hearts, agreed to go with her at some point if she wants company. It's a true hardship, but hey, what are friends for? ;)

This week, as I said work was still kinda ehhhhh. However, as we get closer to Yule (and my birthday) I can't help (birthday birthday birthday) but get into a better (birthday) mood.

And thus concludes the Backtrackage of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! Methinks I got it all, but feel free to comment if I didn't.

broadway. movies, friends
