That's my advice to Karen. And here's the comment I replied to her, it basically explains all that happened this week, and there's really no reason to retype it.
I'd had a really bad migraine since Tuesday, and excessive nausea (most of my migraines are the headaches and some nausea if I don't take an Imitrex). I woke up with it on Tuesday which is also rare. The other times I've had morning migraines, the Imitrex didn't work, so I didn't bother to take one. Those pills are expensive! Usually I just have to sleep...but that didn't do anything. It started to go away on its own a little Tuesday night, but Wednesday morning it was back full force. Same deal for Wednesday, then yesterday. By yesterday, I was so nauseaus I couldn't even really get out of bed without feeling like throwing up.
They did a CT scan and didn't find anything (which is good, as in, "yay, no brain tumor!"). However, they totally did what we discussed in Med Anth (you can ask Annie for more details)...but I'm sure you've experienced it, too. For me, I was really worried b/c I'd never had a migraine last that long and at that intensity, nor had I ever had such intense nausea. But, they just focused on the fact that I hadn't taken an Imitrex and were like, "Remember, you can take them as more than one a day if you need to." It didn't matter that they'd never worked before on morning migraines or anything. Just keep popping those $20 each pills. *sigh*
If you don't get the "SA NATA ANA" reference, watch Jeff Dunham. HI-larious shit.
Anyway, I thought the best part of yesterday was this Quote:
Alex: I have to admit...I was disappointed it wasn't like ER.
Lol. But yeah, yesterday was just full of proof why the medical profession needs to pull out the earplugs and
First, I tried calling doctors' offices, but they wouldn't see me without my validated medical records (takes a few days). So, Alex asked around if anyone knew of any Urgent Care Centers. One of his bosses said there was one right down the street. We looked up the address, and it was one of the doctors' offices I had called earlier. At that time, they had told me to go to an Urgent Care Center and there was one about 15 miles away. So, because all this was contradictory, Alex called them again and asked if they had Urgent Care...and they said yes, but that it was closed from 12:30-1:30. Clearly, no one has need for urgent care during the lunch hour. Duh. So, to us, this seemed as if the Urgent Care Center was on the premises of the doctor's office. But no. The girl at the desk told us to go to the one on North 5th Street Highway (the one I had been told about earlier). And what a stupid name for a highway, I might add. Anywho, we find the building pretty easily...amazing feat up here in PA...and we walk up to the front desk. I ask, "Is this the Urgent Care Center." The receptionist answers, "It was." What the fuck does that mean?! "It was"?! But it did still say no appointment needed, taking new patients, etc., etc. So they saw me...only to tell me I really should go to the ER with my symptoms and also see a neurologist. Fortunately, Alex's bosses let him skip Casino Night and helped him find coverage for part of his duty so he could take me.
