I finished reading Eats, Shoots & Leaves. It was very funny. There were several analogies and metaphors which were just hilarious. If I was to compare her book to any other book I've read, I would say it is most like Mr. Kelley's book. (Hopefully, my faithful high school buddies still do a little occasional stalkage). The purpose of the book is an educational grammar reference. However, it's hilarious -- just like Mr. Kelley's AP Calc book. Btw, my brother has informed me this book is making its rounds on the University of Maryland campus. I offered him my own, highly-valued copy, only to be denied. :-p He said he already had access to the book. Not that I'm surprised. It's excellent. Remember his "cautions" explanation? "These are common math errors. Steer clear! Just like in a horror movie, if the door handle is smeared with blood, DON'T GO INTO THE BASEMENT!" If you were/are a University of Maryland student, let me know if you happen to see a copy of this book skipping merrily between students or being happily employed as a desk reference.
I have an information/interview with BerksTalkline. If they only offer me 8 hours of work per week, I might just take it as a part-time. I really need to crisis counseling experience. However, if I would get to work enough hours to get good benefits (and support myself), I will probably choose that job over the lab tech. It's so hard to choose -- I want both jobs but with these conditions: no stench; benefits, yes, please; and crisis counseling experience. Hopefully, at the very least, I can volunteer to get the crisis counseling experience.
Alex and I have taken to reading and drinking tea (well, Alex drinks tea. I drink either wine or hot chocolate, usually) before going to bed. It seems to be working well so far in terms of a good-going-to-sleep-ritual.
Hi Shrn. Thanks for the stalkage and subsequent IM. I would like to restate how much I LOVED Marley & Me and once again like to recommend it. Just, please, have tissues when you read the end.
Right now we're watching Kim Possible. Hehe. Just an adorable cartoon. I love that naked mole rat.
I'm almost done unpacking! Woot.
Oh, other randomness: my dad acquiesced to my request (like that Pirates reference? :-p) to bring Magic to the house without any fight. Surprising. I just hope Magic does ok with the three hour drive. When we've driven before, he likes to poke his paw out of his carrier and rest it on my chest. So adorable. And he's become our little alarm clock. Depending on the day, he'll start coming in around 6 or 7 am. He'll walk all over us as we sleep and wake us up. If we don't get up and feed him, he will either settle at the base of the bed or leave...only to come back another half hour or hour later to try again. He has also taken to sleeping in the boxes in the hallway. We've been meaning to take the boxes into the basement...but now, he's just so darn cute. I'll try to do another picture post if I remember.
Well, it's almost time for bed. Alex and I are going to try and figure out what season of That '70s Show this is. I only see episodes sporadically. In this one, Hyde has been married six days to a blonde (I didn't catch her name). Josh Meyers is on the show playing Randy. Oh, and the credits are way different.
