Christmas was good. Being home is good. I miss school though, I miss the privacy and the quiet and the not feeling responsible for entertaining my whole family. It's a big responsibility. I love when my friends greet my arrival online with:
what fits best: thank god
what fits best: hello
what fits best: how are you?
what fits best: merrychristmas
all in one breath like that. loooooovely!

I ordered a million books on ebay as part of my gift, and they all came in lots of bubble wrap, so we just put them under the tree as is and I opened them with scissors this morning. Just as effective as wrapping paper and bows, if you ask me. Who gets excited about a pile of old books? WHO? I do. I already read one, called The Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin, the white-haired actor... excellent, really funny story about a narcissist and how he lives. It was short, less than 200 pages, but it took me much longer to read it than it should have. I think it had something to do with the concise writing style. Every sentence was interesting, so I read a lot slower. If/when I write, he has become one of my models... along with Salinger and Augusten Burroughs. Hopefully after this creative writing class I'll feel better equipped to write something. The problem is that I don't know where to begin.
