first off, living under bush is not the end of the world. i can think of worse places to be in than new jersey under a republican.
second, this election was the most negative one in years. i don't claim that thought to be original; i've heard it a million times. but it's true. i've heard people from both parties rant and criticize each other on terrorism, iraq, gay marriage, and so on. the words "liberal" and "conservative" aren't political descriptions; they're insults. if you don't like this behavior, then i applaud you for it. but expect to meet a lot of uncivil people.
my last point is to leigh, whoever you are. nicole is not trying to change anyone's opinions, yours included. she's using phrases like "i weep for the future," not "everyone should weep for the future." you've even admitted that she could express her opinions, so don't be disappointed if they differ from yours. we're living in america, where you're supposed to feel safe in expressing your opinions, whatever they may be. the amount of support something gets is not the only measure of its worth.
