i went to the woods and found shaggy from scooby doo

whew! it's been some time since i last posted -- forgive me. i spent a week in massachusetts, having toured boston (pronounced in local color as "bwastin"). prior to arriving in the city, though, i made my pilgrimage to walden pond, going to the woods because i wished to live deliberately. i walked around the trails that framed the pond. having reached the site of thoreau's cabin, guess who i found?!?! none other than shaggy from scooby doo! scooby was off in the distance next to a small shrub, his leg was up, so i figured that shaggy had stopped to let scooby out. i always wondered how they could drive and drive and drive, yet scooby never had to take a leak. to my surprise, though, i couldn't find the mystery machine in the walden pond parking lot. shaggy told me that it had been stolen by a guy that resembled malcom x, and mentioned that he found a business card in the parking space where the van was. it was from a conch shop in roxbury. so, i offered up my suv and invited shaggy to come to boston with me. on the way, shaggy told me all about his adventures, and how he tried to educate the animated thugs he caught on the tv shows. he had some pictures of a few of them in his backpack, and man, they looked just like the monsters eddie teaches in philadelphia. we left scooby at the hotel dog house, and set off to walk the freedom trail. we saw the grave site of every colonial hero (except for the presidents and benjamin franklin), and took a nice ride on the u.s.s. constitution. i took the wheel, and shaggy manned the cannons. we blew up a few mayflower lookalikes trying to sneak their way into boston harbor. following our adventure, we walked to harvard (see shaggy to the right!). i was unimpressed. harvard is truly the michigan of the east. the next day, we drove out to the cape, put our foot on plymouth rock, and crashed through the waves on the backs of on some rented humpback whales. it was neat.

the trip was good, as it brought me to a place i have yet been. it also allowed me to use the new area to clear my mind. i've had a lot on mind as of lately, and shaggy was very good at giving feedback to some thoughts that have been going through my head. it's entirely weird how going to a different location can really make you think about some things differently. i felt like an entirely different person out there, being able to step back and look at some things. so, if you feel like you're overwhelemed, go someplace else. you'll find your answers. well, that's about it for now. sorry there's nothing overly comical. i promise that the next post will be much more entertaining.

going back to the gym is rough after not going for a week,
