I've been working like a madwoman on my new pso character. I'm just waiting to get my niteflirt listings approved, and then I'm back in business.
Jay and I had a weird day yesterday -- fights over nothing, squabbling, no sex. But then we watched platoon and smoked some doobies and everything was fine. So, last night was the first time I saw Platoon, and I know it's premature, but I think it might be my favorite war movie. Also, I didn't realize that Charlie Sheen was in it, and I think it's quite endearing the way he followed in Daddy's footsteps, seeing as though the only war movie that could rival platoon would be Apocolypse Now. hmm...I wonder if Charlie will seek the TV presidency sometime in the future? I mean, the voters love nam vets; sounds like a sure thing. I didn't really care for the ending monologue in Platoon, however -- seemed kind of pointless. Indeed, all of the voiceovers were kind of forced seeming. But I loved the strong undercurrent of homosexuality, the duality of the ego idea as represented by elias and tom berringer's character (forgot his name,) and the cinematography in general. Also, the first scene in the bush where the newbies are hacking through with machetes was a nice image for 'youth-ness.' I might watch Apocolypse Now again tonight for comparison purposes.
The funny thing is, my last semester in college, I was supposed to watch this movie for my American War on Film class. Don't get me wrong, I love movies, especially war movies; but, I hate viewing labs. HATE HATE HATE viewing labs. Headsets are gross; It's in the Tucker basement and, thus, smells funny. Plus, you never know who's going to come in and try to view it with you and then be all obnoxious with their note-taking scribble scribble noises. I do wish I had participated more in the last few weeks of that class though - It was a pretty cool set up. Really, all you had to do was watch the movies and talk about them.
Yeah, its amusing to me that all I want to do is read books/watch movies and have long-winded discussions about them when that's what I was SUPPOSED to be doing a year ago. I'm not surprised really...seems like the way of things. Maybe I'll go to grad school.
hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahah
hahahahha...
ohhhh, grad school, that's a good one...
