I can't post a picture of my high school.
The building I had classes in from August 1975 to June 1979 is enclosed in another building called Hillside Middle School.

The new high school  is several miles away in what used to be brush, I think, or part of the golf course.  It's not on what we always told people was the highest hill in Wayne County ( Read more... )

The group I started hanging out with didn't have anything in common academically...actually, we had everything in common academically, becaues this was PRE-computers and unless you took an AP class everyone had the same classes. Primarily it started out as a few of the smarter kids who had been on extended school year before we got assimilated into the rest of the school.

It was sort of like....V and I liked Monty Python and punk music, so I became friends with a couple of V's friends who liked Python, and one of them turned out to be someone in my class who was friends with the one high school friend I keep in touch with. D was the abusive friend's boyfriend off and on (and had the emotional scars to prove it for a while), so he became friends with me, and thought Vicki and her friends were OK....yada, yada. It was like a string of people linked by different things in common. We sometimes just referred to ourselves as "the group." "Gang" would have elicitited a now-politically incorrect epithet; we would have told you that "Gang" sounded like a thing someone gay would say, but not in a nice way! ;-) (we were stupid; it was the seventies)
