Let it be known, Davan, I am truly appalled that you are making me do this.

Allow me to outline a purely theoretical situation.
Imagine there's a man. We'll call him Dave. Dave is an idiot, and has finally decided that his life is far too pathetic to be worth living, so Dave decides that the only way to numb his truly epic pain is through fountains and fountains of poorly brewed tundra alcohol.
Dave's friend, who would be better described as "travelling companion who can't just let a perceived debt lie," begins to get a little worried that Dave is going to drink himself into an icy ditch, and while he would really only pity the ditch, he really doesn't want to have to find something else to do, and then walk all the way there, through the snow, alone.
What does Dave's friend do to try and save Dave from this frigid and unfortunate fate?
