Well I had a really fun time with Brandon and his family and lots of delicious food in North Carolina and now I have come home to a garden offering one pollinated pumpkin and many others that will be soon. I am really excited and hoping that it works out. It's so hot that it might cause plant stress and the vines will abort the fruit but hopefully that won't happen. Anyway I didn't realize just how out in the open Christianity is in the South. There were billboards everywhere that said things like "Jesus Saves" and other such gems. I went into this one restaurant and got a free copy of this Christian publication called "The Good Life" and it's so lame but I had to take it with me as a souvenir nonetheless. Today Bush is likely to veto the bill about stem cell research and I think it's fucking ridiculous that religious values are basically what's getting in the way of something that can advance medical studies. I hope the religious minority does not become any more prominent in the government. They are under this illusion that Christianity, the majority religion in America, is under serious threat. They really believe this, and they use that as a way to push their fascist agenda on everybody. They have no place in the affairs of the state. The churches are exempt from paying taxes yet they thinnk they have the right to sway the vote. It's disgusting and I hope there's enough people that realize how ignorant it is and will not allow them anymore power than they already have.
