I am amused. In the course of uploading my old convention pictures, I keep coming across old pictures of myself. Wow, I always forget how much weight I have gotten rid of.
Compare this 2003 image with this one taken last year at AFW or this one from an ASK-C meeting.

I've been looking over the new D&D PHB. The new method of abilities is interesting and I can really see how the Book of Nine Swords was a sort of beta test with the stances and in-battle powers. I've been keeping up with the Penny Arcade/PVP podcast put out by WotC and I also watched the paragon level encounter video. It really gives a sense of battles being very structured and video-game like.
They do limit what you can do, which is both good and bad. The times I played a Sorcerer I enjoyed being able to choose from my large spell list and I had just learned from watching my DM how to build a good status causing mage as opposed to the strict damage dealer. Now even the Fighter or Rouge has about the same number of options in a round as the caster does. I think playing a Warlord or Paladin could be fun in the new edition. I need to find some time when I cane get together with my group or find some other to try it with. Sadly my regular DM is working most days and a few of the other members have moved to another town.
