Canon Source: Mortal Kombat
Character's Name: Bi-Han/Sub-Zero (Elder)
Character's Age: 32

Character's Canon Abilities: Ice/Cold powers!

Sub-Zero is one of the most powerful, and most cunning warriors in Earthrealm during his life. His mastery over his cold powers allowed him to challenge even gods and emerge victorious, and his cold and ice based abilities are utilized in a number of different ways.

The most common and well-known being a freeze blast. Sub-Zero can shoot concentrated cold at opponents, enough to temporarily cover them in a thick sheet of ice and render them immobile. Related to this, he has been known to freeze people's feet to the ground, and generate thick sheets of ice on the ground, suitable for sliding across.

Sub-Zero can also freeze people who come in contact with him by concentrating the energy around his body instead of shooting it, and he can create a solid ice substitute in his place, it lasts only for a few moments, but anyone touching it while it still stands will likewise be frozen.

He can manifest many kinds of objects out of thin air, forming them out of solid ice, and his most common applications of that are the ice clone and the creation of ice blades.

Lastly Sub-Zero somehow teleports. He rapidly encases himself in ice, which almost as rapidly evaporates, then an ice form of himself appears where he intends to go, and when it shatters he is revealed to be inside. It's all a very rapid and poorly explained process.

The cold also does well to protect him from over-heating and being burned, as he can cool off his own body, and, in fact, his body is normally closer to freezing than room temperature. Due to his Cryomancer ancestry, Sub-Zero can survive temperatures well below freezing without trouble.

Character Personality:

Sub-Zero's personality and powers go well together, he is a cold, merciless, distant person. He almost never offers either praise or affection to anyone close to him, (and being close to him isn't quite the same as it would be for other people, more often than not Sub-Zero is just tolerating someone's presence).

He is very well known for killing anyone he defeats. Sub-Zero is so well-known for this, in fact, that when his younger brother, always mistaken for Bi-Han while wearing similar clothing, entered a tournament under the name Sub-Zero and spared one of his opponents it became very obvious to several people that he wasn't the original. Sub-Zero is also very self-centered for the most part, and generally his only concern for those around him is that if they aren't doing well, the clan isn't doing well.

Sub-Zero is very professional, and always carries out the mission (even when he disagrees with it or thinks it's stupid). His personal feelings for either the mission itself or the person who hired him have no impact on his work, and he has taken potentially deadly missions on behalf of people he probably would have just as happily killed in other circumstances.

While he is incredibly powerful, Sub-Zero is also very intelligent. The Lin Kuei are more tech-savvy than their ninja rivals, and while Sub-Zero himself doesn't carry around many gadgets the way fellow assassins Sektor and Cyrax do, he's well-versed in their use, and after his death he even re-programmed one of the Lin Kuei cyborgs to serve him in the Netherrealm. His sharp mind is also very useful for carrying out his missions, he is able to keep his cool, and out-smart, out-fight, and out-maneuver more powerful opponents. His ability to plan and execute a successful assassination is also a good demonstration of his intelligence.

His reputation in the Lin Kuei is very well deserved, and he knows it. Sub-Zero's arrogance is considerable, as is his ambition and stubbornness, all of which have caused problems for him. His ambition, while present during his time alive, became particularly obvious after his death, when he sought control of the Netherrealm. While still living, he had his sights on becoming grand master of the Lin Kuei.

Sub-Zero does generally keep his cool, but like most characters in Mortal Kombat he will resort to violence with very little provocation, and he has a few buttons to be pushed and some groups of beings he very strongly dislikes. Calling Sub-Zero a ninja or insulting him, or his clan, will get him going very easily (in his mind, those three are all the same). He's very proud of his status in the Lin Kuei and absolutely hates being mistaken for a ninja.

Sorcerers are another issue for him. It's never made clear if sorcerers being untrustworthy is a societal thing, or if Sub-Zero had specific experience with them before Quan Chi, but his initial mistrust for sorcerers has transformed into genuine dislike after his employment by Quan Chi. In addition, Sub-Zero doesn't think very highly of gods, as he's shown he can beat four of them in short succession without much rest, and faced a fallen Elder God and lived. He doesn't think very highly of the thunder god Raiden either, considering the gods to be at least a little incompetent and useless. However, there is some respect for Raiden's position, if not necessarily Raiden himself, as the head god of Earth, as Raiden was able to order Sub-Zero to go to the Netherrealm to save the world without either of them resorting to violence (though that was likely a combination of Sub-Zero being smart enough to know that Earth being invaded by another realm is bad, and knowing that pissing off the top god of Earth could be bad for him and his clan).
