Cold Hard Bitch
Bonnie Park had turned out to be a real piece of work. Her blatant dismissal of him in the basement had only been the start. She had been rude and insulting the entire time that he took her statement and by them end of the interview he found himself wishing that he hadn’t worked so damn hard to find her. He knew it was wrong, but part of him wished that he’d just left the bitch there to stew a bit longer, maybe until she started to see things that weren’t really there. Maybe if she’d had a chance to start making her peace and thinking about all the things that she wished she’d said or done, after she’d tried making a few bargains with whatever god she prayed to she would have been a little more grateful for rescue.
Maybe she would have been a bit less bitchy.
But then the next day she showed up at his desk, looking awkward and unsure. He had given her a hard stare and asked coolly what the FBI could do for her. She had surprised him with her reaction - she had dropped her gaze down to her feet, looking a bit ashamed. Then she had apologized, explaining that she hadn’t meant to be so unkind to him the previous day. She was just used to being able to take care of herself and she hated relying on other people. She was ashamed of the fact that she hadn’t been able to save herself, that she had needed saving. He could relate to that; sometimes he was grateful for the fact that he hadn’t been conscious when his team had found him on the boat - that would have been an awkward few moments.
She said that she wanted to make it up to him; then she had asked him out to dinner.
Maybe she wasn’t such a cold, hard bitch after all.
