IC;
nation: Brandenburg

name: Hartwin Leopold-Dunstan
nickname(s): Leo -that or his first name will suffice-his first name usually does suffice.
age: 22
date of birth: Oct 3, 1987 (re-establishment of Brandenburg as a state)
hometown: Potsdam (Brandenburg), Germany
occupation: Volunteers at the LW library in his spare time (which he has a lot of), works part-time at Book Alley, otherwise, he has no real occupation.
residence: Hartwin occupies one of the houses in New Brampton, much to his parent’s dismay. Their first choice for him had been Lakewood but he “politely” declined and preferred a place not as close to a large body of water. He lives alone for the most part and would like to keep that way (sometimes).
family: A mother and a father back in Germany, an older brother and sister back home, which makes him the youngest in the family. Other relatives are pretty much unknown to him.

first impression: “Hey, Blondie! Lighten up, will ya?”

1. He is quite hostile to his parents, although he doesn’t fail to show his gratitude for allowing him to go and stay in Liberty City. He calls at the designated time of the month -and it’s almost like some sort of period because he’s always seen angry after a phone call, which is just him venting. His mother frets over the pettiest of things that it annoys him and it common knowledge that Hartwin has a short temper when it comes to incompetent people (namely, his parents).

2. Hartwin is job hunting because ever since he finished school, he’s been torn as to what to do with his art since he doesn’t intend to sell it. So far he’s had the strongest urge to become an art teacher of sorts. His parents are opposed to the whole switch and turn of career (as he was to do something more business-inclined) but they still sustain him and send in monthly allowance, which he does not decline -because he knows he needs it (they like to wonder about that though but he never states the latter reason).

3. He draws a lot and doesn’t do much if he isn’t. Going home for him is much like going back to school since he continues a lot of his work at home. Hartwin just recently got into oil painting. He chooses to paint at home because he isn’t fond of people looking over his shoulder while he works. Despite the choice of past time, he's a pretty neat person who likes to keep his things in order and he often makes it a point to look like he's taken a bath and combed as well.

4. He has a book collection at home and his shelf nearly looks like the one in Book Alley, having gotten a second copy of each book there for his own self-satisfying need to have books in his house. It keeps him busy what with all the spare time he has. His slight OCD helps in this department and he's arranged the books by author and year of publication himself.

5. He’s really stingy when it comes to money and doesn’t like it when he’s forced to pay for somebody (maybe that’s why he rarely ever goes on dates). Although he comes for a well-off family, he chooses to keep his monthly allowance in check and frequents groceries instead of ordering in. However, if there is one thing he will allow himself to splurge on it’d most likely be oil paints, canvases and new brushes -new pencils, new sketchpads and the like. Oh and books too.

6. Hartwin doesn’t like water. He hates it because it’s tasteless and plain so he usually prefers to take tea (as he is not inclined to coffee) instead. He doesn’t like milk either because he's mildly lactose...at least, he likes to think that he is.

7. He is forward with his thoughts when asked. Male or female, it doesn't matter. General politeness keeps him from doing so sometimes, like if he has to make a certain impression of someone he respects greatly. He has high regard for people who can draw/paint well as well as people who can play instruments because he can't. People who can write exceptionally are among his list of people he has high regard for. It is because he can't do those himself or they are far greater than he is.

8. He doesn’t like eating meat and prefers fish and chicken (and potatoes) over red meat. He is often seen by the vegetables aisle in the grocery store and he has recently discovered the joys of sushi and heads over to places that don’t offer too much carnivorous meals.

9. He hates it when people belittle him and/or call him ‘kid’ because his brother is the only one he allows to address him so. He and his brother were quite close as children and he was the one who decided to take on the business career, giving Hartwin the chance to do as he pleased. He and his older sister are on good terms as well. It’s just his parents he’s having trouble with. They would often think his reason for dropping out of the entrepreneur school he once went to was because of his irresponsibility but Hartwin is reliable and will get the job done.

10. He is currently looking for someone who can tolerate living with a lot of books because living in such a neighborhood gets rather creepy even after some time and he needs help with chasing away pesky “kids” at night who cross his lawn whispering to themselves about a ghost living in his house (referring to him, no doubt). He is often mistaken for an old man because of his love for books, healthy food and outright hate for the "youthful" sort.

SECRET: Hartwin is afraid of the sea. He doesn’t like the vast body of water even if he’s never had any traumatic incident in it because to him, looking at it is traumatic enough. Perhaps it is all the books he’s read (thus giving him an over-active imagination) but he’s always felt uncomfortable standing by one -which is the main reason he declined staying at Lakewood.
