Continued from here.

When Fred went limp in Wesley's arms, he picked her up and took her into the house, laying her on the couch. Giles, meanwhile looked at the blood that was spreading, crimson red, on the floor of the garage. Luckily, she had only managed to burst about three of the bags before they had stopped her. He knew that once they got her back, she wouldn't be happy about the lost blood, but at least it was better than losing the entire supply.

Kneeling down, he performed a clean-up spell, the red disappearing from the ground in short work. A buzz ran through him when he did, thanks to the fact that he had been performing several powerful spells in such a short amount of time. Staying where he was, he closed his eyes and concentrated on dispersing the high. Usually sex or some kind of other release was needed, but they didn't have time.

They had to get their Fred back.

Going into the house where Wesley was sitting with their sleeping Sire. He looked up at Giles, an anguish that he also felt in his eyes. "What are we going to do? We can't lose her, but we can't let her continue like this...with this...soul mucking her about."

Pursing his lips together, Giles knelt on the floor, reaching up to push Fred's hair back from her face. "I wish I knew. This sleeping spell can be continued indefinitely, but I don't want to do that to her."

"Ma'am?" came Amber's voice from the door. They looked over to see Fred's pet standing there, wide-eyed. "Did something happened to her?"

"She was cursed with a soul," Wesley growled. "And we need to find a way to get it out of her."

"A soul? But isn't that...?"

Giles shook his head. "Believe me, sweet, if you want things to remain as they are, to stay here as Fred's pet, you don't want her to have a soul." He looked over at Wesley. "Unfortunately, while my magic is powerful enough to shove one in, it's not enough to take one out."

"You need a sorceror?" Amber asked softly.

"You know of one?" Wesley asked in surprise.

"I--I heard...Professor Siedel was talking to someone one time before he...disappeared about some books that he had gotten, special books. Said he got them from a powerful sorceror named Vail. Maybe he might be strong enough?"

Giles looked over at Wesley with a smirk. "I've heard of him before. I was under the impression he was a legend. I think we should find this Vail."

"So...erm, you want me to help you pull the soul out of your Sire, hmm?" the red, wrinkled demon sorceror asked as he sat across the table from Wesley and Giles. Fred lay on a nearby couch, still unconscious from the spell Giles had performed. "Why should I help you?"

"Because as I see it, it would be advantageous to you," Giles told him. "You have a reputation for enjoying chaos. A vampire with a soul is not likely to cause that, but one without would."

"Interesting. Interesting." He looked them over. "I understand you staked Angelus."

"You know about that already?" Wesley asked in surprised.

"My boy, there's nothing I don't know. I also know that between the three of you, you killed two Slayers, a Potential, and a Witch. I know that the fight in Sunnydale with end victorious for Slayer Summers because of help from an unlikely source, but it will not be the victory she wants. And I know that you three..."

He paused for a moment, looking back and forth from them to Fred.

"I will help. In return, when I remove her soul, it becomes mine. Another bauble for my collection. I'll even give you a bit of money for it - to make it perfectly even."

Giles looked over at Wesley. "Agreed."

"Good, good!" Jumping up with an agility the belied his stature, he motioned for them to join him next to Fred. He reached out and called for a box, which flew to his hands. He set it on the arm of the couch next to Fred's head. "Put your hands of her. She was sired by Angelus, so she bears his curse, as do both of you. To remove the soul, she must experience perfect happiness. For that, I need you both to be part of this."

He touched her forehead and muttered a few words. "She'll believe that she and both of you are still human. Give her a perfect day. A wedding day with the men she loves."

Wesley and Giles placed their hands of Fred and felt themselves being sucked into the world Vail was constructing in her mind.
