I'm back in Japan. Everything is going pretty smoothly. I have found out that I do in fact transfer to somewhere else in about five months and the detailer has asked me for a list of five choices. This doesn't necessarily mean I'll get any of them but it gives him an idea of where I'd like to be stationed (probably so he can send me as far away from them as possible). My choices are as follows:
1.Jacksonville
2.Jacksonville
3.Panama City
4.Washington DC
5.Italy
As you can see they are all situated on either the east coast of the US or in Europe, which means that I will probably end up in California or somewhere else here in Japan (the latter being worst case scenario).
So my vaction is over and I can just coast along until its time for me to leave. I'm told that I won't go back to sea while I'm here which is pretty good. I'm over the Pacific Ocean.
I have been promoted. I am now an Aviation Electricain's mate Third Class, an E-4, and I will make an extra $250 a month, which is nice. I'm also going to be counted on to display more responsibility and leadership than I would otherwise. To this end I have been sitting in leadership seminars at work where they go over every generic "Traits of Highly Successful People" routine I have heard since coming into the Navy. For the money they're giving me its not unbearable.
So thats it. I'm in a position where the the horizon looks real good and just so long as I dondt dwell on whats going on around me in the present I'll be able to make it. I think that whatever happens to me for the rest of my life I can look back on this time I have spent in Japan and think that things could always be much worse.
Mount Fuji again this summer.
