This Year's "Anti-Oscar" Rant
I don't know why I'm so surprised that I'm upset with the outcome of the Acadmey awards. It seems like Clint Eastwood could blow his nose on a strip of film and everyone in Hollywood would rave about it. I admit that I was hoping Jamie Foxx would get an Oscar but not because of Ray. I thought his role in Collateral did more to establish himself and if Ray Charles hadn't just died nobody would care about that flick. I like Cate Blanchett a great deal and if Natalie Portman hadn't been in the running I certainly would have thrown my hat in for her but you just don't mess with Natti. Hillary Swank is just another addition to a long list of undeserving "Best Female Actresses" I think. Eternal Sunshine should have not beaten Hotel Rowanda. The only great thing about cinema coming out of E.S. (besides Kirsten Dunst) was that somebody finally upstaged Jim Carrey and I was hoping Kate Winslet would have received some recognition for that. If I ever make a movie and it wins the Academy Award I'll bludgen the judges with it for such an outrageous insult to my character. Next year Natti, next year.
