...and what a weekend.

So I worked two shifts this weekend. One from midnight to 8am on Saturday and then agian at the same time on Sunday. The one on Sunday was a last minute thing and it got me out of going to work on Monday morning which is fine I guess.

A group from my squadron is going to sea this week so on Saturday, while I was the squadron driver, they decided to load all their gear on the trucks that will it take it to the ship. For several hours I was doing nothing but driving a bunch of staggering, inebriated sailors across the base so they could get their drunken affiars in order before going to sea. I guess when it comes right down to it I am glad that I drove them instead of them driving themselves. Thats not so uncommon you know. They say in Japan between the hours of nine pm and four am that one in every eight cars on the road is driven by a drunk. Not such great odds.

My second shift was a little less eventful. I stood the barracks watch which means I just make sure the building doesn't burn down and if somebody is playing their radio too loud I ask them to turn it down. It's really quite simple and there is a television and a pool table which help the hours fly by. I spent all night watching baseball and playing nine ball and before I knew it, it was over.

I have a lot to keep me busy these days which is something I suppose I should be thankful for. I have to plan in advance exactly where I have to be and when I need to eat and sleep in the mean time. Its much different than what I am used to but I think I can hold out for a while longer and when its over I will just be that much more grateful for time that I can sit and do nothing.
