Book #30 - "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by J.K. Rowling (10½ out of 10)

NO SPOILERS!

So after ten years and 6 books, the final installment of the Harry Potter series hit the bookshelves at one minute past midnight on Saturday the 21st July.  Determined not to have my enjoyment of the book spoilt by any "spoilers" I spent the whole of Saturday reading the book to find out what eventually happens to Harry and his friends.

I can honestly say that I was not disappointed in the least.  With so much expectation placed on the 7th and final book, it was a hard act to live up to.  However J.K. Rowling delivered a result without a doubt, and has written a very fitting end to this amazing series.

The reader is thrown straight into the deep end with Harry and his friends trying to get him to a "safe house" as soon as they can as the protection that has helped him survive the last 16 years of his life runs out when he reaches his 17th birthday.  Trying to outwit Voldermort and the death eaters, they concoct a brilliant plan to aid Harry's escape.  However, it becomes clear there is a mole in their midst and their plan has been leaked when they run straight into trouble.  From the start of the book the reader is taken on a twisting, turning adventure which climaxes in a fantastic conclusion to Harry's adventures.

If you have read the other books in the series, this book is a must-read!  All the loose ends are tied up neatly, and we find out whose side people really are on.  What was Dumbledore's eventual plan for Harry, and, of course, most importantly, does Harry survive the final show-down with Voldermort?

It was a tall order for J.K. Rowling to deliver a book which could live up to such high expectations, but without a doubt she managed the feat.  I give this book a very special 10½ out of 10 as it was such a fantastic read, and a not-at-all-disappointing climax to what has been one of the most wonderful series of books ever written.
