I've been nominated for a NATIONAL NEWSPAPER AWARD!!! My Marfan story was a finalist for the long feature category. I'm up against Ian Brown of the Globe and Mail (a story on religion and its impact on people and politics) and Louise Leduc of the Montreal La Presse (for a story on immigrant minimum wage workers). I'm super excited as is everyone here at the Herald. No comment from my old paper though, who had no other finalists but me.
I'm so excited. I found out by my editor calling me at home to congradulate me. I had no idea for what. Then she told me and I thought it was a mistake.
The ceremony is in Halifax May 26. I'm so excited. I probably have no hope in hell of winning but it's exciting to be nominated.
